Tours that the cruise lines use?

Viking Oceans had a Cuban group called Cuba Travel Services plan, arrange and direct the excursions that were offered to us. I believe the actual tour guides were Cuban government employees. I felt Cuba Travel Services and the guides they arranged were quite good, although of course, there was likely a little bit of steering us to see what they wanted us to see going on.

It's not like other places, where you can often figure out which vendors are likely to provide excursions. I may be wrong, but I don't think there are very many tour companies in Cuba, so probably most of the tours are provided by the government-trained guides or else provided by people who have a classic car and are willing to take tourists around the city.

I can say for a fact that is wrong. There are many privately owned tour companies in Cuba with GREAT reputations and guides and tours. I only used private tours on my trip to Havana last May, 2017. I was a solo female cruiser and I was SAFE and had a blast. Old Car Tours is one company. Check them out and their cars are amazing.

As the previous poster said, you are wrong.

We used cubaguider.com in Santiago de Cuba and Fernando Hernández Mora in Cienfuegos. There are many others. Cubans are allowed to have their own small businesses now and that really helps them improve their lives.
