Number of casino points for comp

maybe, just maybe, he does not want you to know he loses money. You are not a liar, but you might be misinformed. You CAN NOT beat a casino on a regular basis, they would all be out of business. Do you know why Vegas hotels do not have balconies? Every single Vegas game as a house advantage for a reason.

THat would be my bet (pun intended). Having worked in the gaming industry...the people that you see consistently winning jackpots oftentimes put in more than the jackpot is worth.

People who always win....just don't tell you about the times they lose.

Exactly. Gamblers are very good at telling tall tales.

I am a gambler myself....I have won a good share and of course only share my stories of winning. My family and friends always say how lucky I am. Gamblers don't go around bragging on their losses. There is no person alive who wins every time they gamble. If that's what they say...you are pretty naïve.

But if that's what makes you happy to believe....

As far as the comped rooms. It is all up in the air. My last cruise in April I earned 2500 and got a BB for a free balcony room (that's what we were in) I have been on cruises that I got 3800 points and go no offers.

If your in the gaming industry, you will know that there are usually machines that pay more than others and there are some machines that are looser to enhance people to play...some win more and make a lot of noise to attract others to play. There are high machines and low machines...so if your in the gaming industry you would know where you put the loosest machine...end, middle, etc...and the aisle machines appear to be looser you know the answer why being in the field....the cycle of a machine has its percentage to pay out a certain amount over a period of time based on the number of handle pulls the machine receives, even though the hot and cold cycles are random and indeterminable....and you would know, when a machine is ordered you have to tel the manufacture what you want it to pay....there is a book that contains all the available hold percentages for particular models and the denomination of a machine is what determines the hold percentage...also new machines are best to play as they are generally in the favor of the person playing and not the house.....being in the industry as you say you are you would know that the pay out can be 400% to 500% on that game but the next month it may be tighter and at the end of the cycle it will hold the percentage for the house...it takes time for a machine to hold for the house...machines can be cold one day and hot another day and generally when a large jackpot is won, my other half will play more knowing it can do a few more bonuses but he knows that it will take money in for the house...so he leaves....people are under the assumption that a machine that is hot is going to keep paying out, but in reality its pure luck, you don't know..its all about being in the right place the right time....and for some reason my other half knows a lot about the machines and he knows when to walk away and he is just lucky on picking the right machines.

Bingomamma19- My other half and I know one another for 44 years, there is no lying there is no hiding with us, we always stay together and do things together, of course, he has his hobbies such as refurbishing old radios/amps and such and has been a musician since the age of 12, he's a drummer and now a bass player....but what I am saying, he will tell me when he looses and how much...but in the end he always wins now watch me just jinx him on the next cruise so I am knocking on wood!!

Sorry, but all cruises he comes home with more money, I not saying a lot average 600-3000 on a cruise, actually twice he made money in the casino that paid for the entire cruise....I don't recall him coming home with more money in Vegas the three times we went, but at the Hard Rock he generally average coming home 400-1800 more and the last trip was $13k! In Aruba last year he won some jackpots, came home with $6800 more money and he purchased me a beautiful gold and diamond bamboo necklace, so reality he won more....this past year he came home with around 2900.

There is such a thing as a person who is lucky and a person who has good feelings when they go up to slots....very very rare of course but he isn't the only one I am sure.

Ok...keep on believing. The only 100% rule in gambling is NOBODY ends up a winner overall. There is no secret formula. The only formula is house wins. You may be up some days and down others. Overall its not a money maker.

In my state the machines all have to at least pay out a certain % of what they take in...it's a low number..and It's regulated by the state police. I don't know if the cruise ships are under any regulations or not. The talk about loose machines is nonsense in my experience.

Some games have a higher payback and better odds....he know about that also...he knows which machines to choose.....but there are places in the casino where certain machines will be placed for certain reasons...but I won't say anymore to this, not going to let the cat out of the bag..if you argue whether I am lying, I just smile and know your wrong and know what he comes home with.

Yeah the more you bet, the better your chance of winning. A $10 slot machine is going to pay off more than a $1 slot machine. But you're also putting in more money.

Delusional gamblers always think they have a "system".

I am a "realist" gambler. They are games. Set a budget, play what you can afford and enjoy the wins when they come along. I, myself, just won $632 last night on a one dollar bet at the casino. Was very happy with that :)

There is NO system, but there are ways to choosing a looser machine...you just have to know where they are located and such....and you do have to pay max to get jackpots in progressive machines....but there is also a thing called lucky people...machines are not fixed as some people think they are, its all about timing, pressing the button just the right time, and there are some people that just are lucky, I am not one of them.

slot machines are controlled by random number generators...there is no system.

  • 3 weeks later...

My situation...took my parents on their first cruise in May. My mom spent $200 of "her" money but played for a long time because she kept winning & never cashed out. I know she only spent $200 because I managed her account. We are booked on a cruise in 27 days from a casino offer she got for $25 pp for 5 night. Interior room. Option to upgrade was several hundred more pp.

Does anybody know how many casino points one needs to get a buyback offer/complimentary cruise from the casino and are they only interior cabins?
Just got off Vista today. I had 19000 points got an offer for $100 for inside with $100 obc essentially free or $200 for OV cabin with $200 obc. This cruise lost over 10k and got an OV cabin comped [emoji23]

I'll ignore the back and forth on strategies and systems and give my late to the party response...

After booking our first cruise several years ago, I called the Carnival casino department and requested that I be evaluated for comps based on play in Vegas. The thing is, we hadn't been to Vegas in a couple years. Anyways, after a few days Carnival shot me an e-mail saying I would get a drink card and like 50 OBC. I figured that was perfectly fine as I never was a huge player at all in Vegas (15-20 a spin on the roulette wheel) and since we hadn't been in so long.

Anyways, during the cruise, I do not think I spent a HUGE amount of time in the casino. Several hours a day, though. I cannot recall if I was up or down for the trip.

Fast forward to the last day and I had a notice in the mailbox for a free interior future cruise. I was floored to receive it and we certainly took advantage.

Coming to present day, I haven't received any further offers. We just finished our most recent cruise where I spent at least 6 or 7 hours per day in the casino. I received the drinks on us card the last night, so didn't get much use out of it. I don't know how they calculate points. I did note, however, that some dealers did not place the roulette number marker back in the middle of the circular lights on many spins. In Vegas, at least, this is how points for roulette are calculated. When the marker is correctly placed back in the circle, a spin is registered in the system. The lights changing color acknowledge the placement. I wanted to say something about it, but did not want to be that kind of a player. I had to remind myself that it isn't a very good idea to play for comps, as well.

Also, meant to mention that I probably spent as much on drinks on the casino on this last cruise as the amount that I overall lost. That was aggravating.

We find in our experiences the casino is best the first day so what we do is aim for 1500 points the first day which costs me somewhere between maybe $700 to $1000 if our luck is bad. I figure the drink package is about $800 for this cruise so we basically paid for it with a chance to win some money and have some fun. This cruise was strange we couldn't find good machines until late in the cruise, I remember one my wife was playing she got 6000 points on one $100 bill she put in playing $8.80 per spin but it was too late for us to play catch up to try to get our money back

Ah, that’s a solid idea. Hadn’t thought about going hard the first day to aim for it then scaling back to normal the rest of the trip. Pretty smart.

On Carnival the comp criteria is not fixed. I have gotten free bouceback cruises with casino cash after getting 2,000 points on an 8 day cruise. I have gotten nothing and had to fight with the casino host to get my drink card on a 5 day cruise where I accumulated 8,000 points. I think the casino host decides id she likes how you look to see if she will comp you. I know one person who hardly gambled but gave the casino host $20 at the beginning of the cruise and she got wine at dinner every night, a steakhouse dinner and a bounceback for a free cruise and she earned less than 2,000 points during the cruise.

How would you go about doing that ? I have never tipped the casino hosts before. Just hand them the cash ? And say what ? Or give it in an envelope of some sort ? With a card ? I can't wrap my head around this.

Ah, the $20 trick. I've only ever done that in Vegas... but to front desk, not the hosts. That's a pretty good return your friend got for 20 bucks.
