Do ships have to bid/reserve that spot? The 14-day ships always seem to sit there.

Have you ever seen anybody but the HAL 14-day ships there? I never had the feeling there was much competition for the area, and I suspect several ships could anchor there if needed.

Since all ships have S/E Alaska pilots onboard on this run (pretty much while first arriving in Alaskan waters every new run until leaving in Ketchikan) "reserving" is not necessary but it was all submitted as part of "planning & itinerary" the year before
