michaelaz Posted January 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2018 I am looking at taking Wife for 25th anniversary, experienced western, eastern, southern cruisers on RC but wanting to do Alaska. Is this a good time and is there a preference to a side ? I think Starboard (right) ? CruiserBruce Posted January 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2018 The side of the ship doesn't matter.
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2018 CruiserBruce has it right. You will enjoy lots of views from the public decks where you can quickly go from one side to the other. I would place more emphasis on where on the deck you are (eg, midship for less motion) rather then what side you are on. Congratulations on your major milestone anniversary. We have sailed Alaska several times and for our 25 wedding anniversary we also sailed Alaska. Keith
Aviendah Posted January 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2018 From my research it seems that on a round trip cruise it really doesn't matter. If it is a northbound cruise starboard is popular and for southbound port seems to be favored. I booked a room that will be on the mainland side for a majority of our sailing. I think the room location on the ship is probably more important; away from the noise but close to popular areas.
