Tell me about Carnival Freedom

We have cruised other ships, but never the Freedom.

What should I know about her? Anything good, bad, indifferent? Any distinguishing features?

Thanks for whatever you can tell us.

FYI - my DW and I have sailed multiple times before, but this time we are taking all our kids (5 of them). From age 10-college.

I see you've sailed on Triumph. To me Freedom and Triumph feel similar for the most part. Freedom is a little bit bigger in the middle which gives you a bigger buffet/smaller lines. In that extra space down on the promenade you have a Red Frog Pub. Up on the floor above Lido you have the Steakhouse and a BBQ place. Other differences...you will have a refrigerator in your room...and freedom has serenity deck where I don't believe Triumph does. Outside of those differences you'll feel like you are back on Triumph most of the time.

I have done the Freedom twice now...photos and stuff in link under my name.

We love the Freedom, best crew of all our 9 cruises. CD Malcolm is moving to Magic this summer, don't know who is replacing him. He is the best IMHO. Decor is a bit crazy 70s psychedelic paisleys and patterns. It kinda grows on you. Really good entertainment on ship, love the live bands, etc.

Hi! I'm sailing on the same cruise as you, my son is 10 as well. We also have a 7 year old daughter.

I will be on with our kids too, but they are a bit older (except our youngest is the same age as your oldest - but a girl) ;p

The Triumph was not our favorite ship, but not a bad one. It never felt cramped, which we liked (the advantage over the Magic, which felt cramped everywhere). Do you like the Freedom over the Triumph?

I’ve sailed Freedom a couple times and it was my favorite ship. Love it is big enough for the extras but small enough to not feel overcrowded. Probably my favorite part was the small adult only aft pool. Enjoy your cruise!

Yeah I liked Freedom more. Obviously it's newer than Triumph. I liked the BBQ option. I liked the bigger buffet, having a fridge in the room, and the Red Frog Pub. But as far as the lido pool area, the main theater, the casino, the comedy club, sports bar, piano bar, it's all the same design..so it feels like the same ship at times.

I don't think the aft pool is adults only anymore. I could be wrong. :(:(

It was in 2015 and 2017 when I was on that ship. I know they did change it for a while to be all inclusive but I heard they changed it back. Who knows though could’ve changed again since then... I hope not though because that is a definite perk to not have kids canon balling and splashing all around you.

Come back after and let us know [emoji16]

We have cruised with Carnival for 30 years now, and I’d have to say our April 2018 cruise on the Freedom was one of the best. The crew was particularly outstanding and seemed very cheerful and happy to be working there. Great maitre d and service in in the main dining room; shows were frequent and well done.

Red frog pub was fun every evening and we loved the huevos rancheros on the Lido deck in the morning.

This is a good ship!
