Angel91805 Posted October 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2017 Hi there! Hubby and I grew up in Tampa, FL, surrounded by the Cuban community. Fast forward a lot of years and we are now in Oklahoma, having lived 20 years in Texas. We dearly miss Cuban sandwiches, and just anything on Cuban bread. A French baguette is just not the same! Is there a place near the port we could hit after our excursion? I've looked online and found a few possibilities, but thought maybe someone might have a suggestion based on experience! TIA, Donna OKC
bhopal21 Posted October 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2017 Five Brothers Grocery on Southard St https://www.coolkeywest.com/5-brothers-key-west/ Cuban owned and operated for decades. Best Cuban mix and hot bollos in town. Mike
peter_krynicki Posted October 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2017 I have friends who were born in Cuba. (Mary Hemingway helped them to escape the island when Castro came into power) When they go to Key West they go here ---> https://www.elmesondepepe.com/ For this ---> Cayo Hueso Cuban Mix (Available all day) Key West's version of the traditional Cuban Sandwich, served with all the trimmings: sugar glazed ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, lettuce, mustard, tomatoes & mayonnaise on crispy pressed Cuban bread I like the coconut-crusted Key West pinks. bhopal21 Posted October 24, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2017 I’m sorry but there is nothing traditional about sugar on a Cuban mix. Mike
Herfnerd Posted October 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2017 Ana's Cuban Café. Right around the corner from where we always stay.

keywester33 Posted October 26, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2017 The best Cuban Sandwich here in my opinion is at 5 Brothers.
RB Bonzo Posted November 7, 2017 #11 Share Posted November 7, 2017 There are lots of really good choice. My favorite is Sandy's on White Street. But, if proximity to port is a key factor, try Cuban Coffee Queen
