gamblers rate?

It is hard to tell at first if you are eligible for casino rates. The easy way is if you receive a mailer offering casino cash - those mailers have rates lower than other mailers. The second way to tell is to call while you are looking at the price on the website, ask if you are eligible for the casino rate and see if you get a lower rate than what you see logged on to the website. I travel with two people eligible so I have them make the reservation and they get discounts.

Carnival and Princess share the same casino players club: Ocean Players Club. We started on Carnival and got offers all the time -- they showed up on the website when booking, we got mailings, and (if we'd played a lot) in an envelope delivered by the casino host on the last night.

Once we took our first Princess cruise (because Carnival didn't have Alaska)... the offers all came from Princess, no more Carnival offers.

We like both lines equally, and would like to switch back and forth, especially since our bank at home includes Carnival gift cards among their rewards... and they can't be used on Princess.

Ultimately, I thought the casino automatically enrolls you in the players club in order to rate your play. If you're a big player that had a down week, it can be useful to get your Win/Loss statement for taxes.

A lot depends on the cruise itself. A cruise that is selling well will not likely have a casino rate. One that is listed under a sale often does.
