The Queen Mary 2 has been doing it for ten years now and before that the Queen Elizabeth 2 sailed transatlantic for many years. The crossings are very special sailings; you should try one. You'll be hooked.

lol I didn't finish my above sentence. I meant to say "I didn't know that the Queen Mary 2 (or any other cruise ship) crosses over the pond to Europe in the Fall." All other ships are coming back over to the U.S. ;)

While other ships cross the Atlantic only for "repositioning" moves Queen Mary 2 still makes scheduled crossings between May and December, New York and Southampton.

I'm kind of wondering what the Mayo clinic did to that poor man's hormones to make him gain all that weight. :eek:

According to reports, he was denied passage on the QM2 due to medical concerns. He flew to London on Virgin Airways. The Eurostar wouldn't allow him to take the train to France, but P&O will take him across on the ferry.

I'm not surprised, after all I am not sure the "Mayo" clinic was the appropriate place to send someone with weight issues.

There were probably several "medical security" issues that prevented him from sailing TA. He would have needed a custom life jacket. Transport to the medical center would be a problem if none of the stretchers supported his weight. And finally, the man's physical bulk may have made him unable to board a lifeboat. Any carrier is in a lose-lose situation here. Turn the passenger away and get bad press as cruel and uncaring. Accept him and run afoul with international safety regulations.
