Kiwi_cruiser Posted September 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2009 Kia ora :) I would think that you would tender in to Paihia or Russell. Hope this is of some help.
Kiwi Kruzer Posted September 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2009 We have been on several cruises that called at The Bay of Islands and have been tendered ashore to 3 different locations. Paihia, Waitangi and Russell. Paihia is the main centre, and the new berthing facility for tour boats has now been completed.Last time we were there that was the one in use. I believe they were using the other 2, while it was being reconstructed, but if you check the ships tours it says you go to the port of Waitangi, but that may be out of date now. Waitangi and Paihia are fairly close to each other and they have usually put on a shuttle. You may not know until you board as the other possibility is that the ships tours will land at Waitangi, where they have it all to themselves and lots of space for the coaches, and others tender to Paihia. From HALS website........ From the port of Waitangi, drive across to............... ................Lunch will be served at a local hotel, before your return to Waitangi in the Bay of Islands. budddawn Posted September 12, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted September 12, 2009 Thanks to both of you for your help. I guess I will have to wait until we are on board to let the taxi know exactly where to pick us up. BUDD

Berthing facility - as in a dock instead of a tender? Or is it for the tour boats only?
Kiwi Kruzer Posted September 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2009 Berthing facility - as in a dock instead of a tender? Or is it for the tour boats only? It is just for the tourist boats. All the cruise ships still anchor in the bay. budddawn Thanks to both of you for your help.
