We are staying at the Fairfield Inn in Dania Beach which is close to Ft. Lauderdale Airport. They will shuttle you from the airport and also shuttle you to the cruise port. It is a brand new hotel that is opening up in October 2009. We are staying there pre-cruise on November 13th. It is running us $119 plus tax so I did not think that was to bad since they are also keeping our car for 10 nights at no charge. I ask for the sleep park and fly package. Just go to the Marriott Website and it should come up. I believe it is on Griffin Avenue. Happy Cruising!:)

This question only gets asked about 5 times a day. ;)

The SE17th Street hotels are less than 10 minutes from FLL and just outside the entrance to Port Everglades with dozens of restaurants, shops, grocery, drug, & liquor stores, water taxi, Sun Trolley, all within safe, easy walking distance.

I have stayed at the Embassy Suites pre cruise several times and find it to be perfect! It is close enough to the airport that the cab ride doesn't kill you (about $13/per trip last February), they are close enough to the port that you can see the ships, there are plent of shopping and eating venues less than a 5 minute walk away, and they have a shuttle to the port. And all that after you free hot breakfast! For my group it is the best!

Go to hotwire It is the 69$ hotel near Port everglades

Good luck

I'm having trouble figuring out which hotel I'm going to get on Hotwire. Some don't have the little "shuttle" icon (looks like a bus). On hotwire, Does the Hyatt Place show the shuttle icon ? I see a 3 star but no shuttle icon ???

Hyatt Place just might not be available for your dates through Hotwire. All of the 3-4 star hotels downtown on hotwire are good, but I don't think any of the others offer shuttles. Cab fare won't be high, though.

I'm thrilled because I just got it on priceline.com for $73. plus tax.

I bid $73. (had tried $65 earlier). I only zone chose the DOWNTOWN zone and only chose 3 star and I got Hyatt Place for 1 night pre-cruise December 27, 2009.

I did find it on hotwire.com too but it was $89. plus taxes so thought I'd give priceline a try first.

Thanks for your help.

The "downtown" Fort Lauderdale hotels are all so close to the port and airport it's not worth worrying about the shuttle. A taxi is very inexpensive and much quicker and easier than waiting around for a shuttle.

I just booked the Fairfield Inn in Dania Beach at a rate of 95.20/night in December. You may want to check your rate again. I just looked up Nov 13 and rate shows up at 95.20/night. I was unable to find information on parking while on a cruise though. Can you help?

I just booked Hyatt PLace on hotwire. It comes up in the downtown-los olas zone as a 3 star. Other amenities include shuttle and coffee cup icon. Look at b e t t e r b i d d i n g website to see more tips how to guess what you are bidding on. With fees it came out to $104.77. I also have an entertainment book coupon that will give me a $20 rebate off that (coupon is in 2009 and 2010 entertainment book for hotwire hotels). Make sure you use the link for the coupon to do the booking.

I've never understood why anyone wants to stay near the airport.

For me the best place to stay in Fort Lauderdale is on the beach or on Las Olas near the beach.

Blue Herons...Maybe they don't realize that the beach and Las Olas are just minutes from the airport. Or they are getting in really late and just want to sleep. Or they know they can save money because they won't be near anything fun. Or they want a free shuttle so they don't have to spend $20 each time they transfer. I'm sure it makes sense for them...but you know where we want to be...

(Came to Fort Lauderdale for vacation and stayed for 22 yrs).
