Oosterdam - SS suite benefits?

We are booked on Oosterdam, Navigation deck in SS cabin. Heard that there are lots of perks for these cabins. Anyone know of what they are? Also, any recommendations on Mexican Riviera shore excursions?

Great to see another Clevelander on the boards! We live in Chagrin Falls.

To answer your question about the SS suites, there are no additional perks other than a larger cabin that I am aware of. We normally book the S suite, which does include perks such as the Neptune Lounge, free laundry & dry cleaning, priority embarkation and debarkation, priority tenders, etc.

We did do the Sea of Cortez cruise on the Ryndam last February and enjoyed ourselves quite a bit.

Frank and Shari - You've booked a great category and you'll enjoy the extra room of an SS but it does not, as mentioned above, have any of the suite perks. We had SS 6060 on the Oosterdam last March and thoroughly enjoyed the cabin. We also knew, from the day we booked it, that it was not a "suite" in the sense that HAL uses the term for its top cabins. We did meet a number of SS passengers who had been told, or at least thought for whatever reason, that they were to get suite perks....which they didn't. Nonetheless, it is a great cabin and a great ship. Have a good cruise!

HAL really needs to do something about this terminology issue. They CALL them Suites ("Superior Verandah Suites"), hence the "SS" classification, so they should either apply Suite perks to these or they should cease calling them "Suites" and call 'em "Superior Verandah Staterooms" or some-such. Otherwise, unscrupulous travel agents will continue to misrepresent the category and the line.

The confusion is easy to understand. The S class is called "Deluxe Verandah Suite." The SS is called "Superior Verandah Suite." Hence, unless one is careful about reading all the details, it is easy to see how one might misunderstand what is included in the "Deluxe" Suite that is NOT included in the "Superior Suite." Perhaps, instead of calling it the "Suite Life" they should call it the "Deluxe Suite Life"?

What is even worse some of the internet sites use the terms very loosly and you think you are booking an S and you end up with an SS or even an A.

To paraphrase an ex-president "What this country needs is a good definition for cabins, a clear tipping policy and a chicken in very pot."
