CruzinNoony Posted November 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2009 I know there is a way to put money on your Princess Visa card without paying the service charge either from home before you leave or in the casino once you are on the ship. Pia, for one, has addressed this, but unfortunately I have forgotten. Help!!!

billet Posted November 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 2, 2009 Does this apply only tothe Princess Visa Card? How do you 'send yourself a credit'?
WeBeGone Posted November 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2009 You can send yourself an OBC or casino credits, and place the charge on any credit card you want. Usually the cut off for doing this is 2 weeks before sailing.

coo359a2 Posted November 2, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2009 I just call the Princess 800 # and tell them I want to buy (i.e $1000) casino credits and charge it to my Princess Visa card or you can use whatever credit card you want. By using Princess Visa I get double points (2000) for purchasing the casino credits. When you get to your cabin, you will find cards totaling the amount of casino credits you purchased. These cards are the same type you receive when your TA gives you a gift for wine, pictures or OBC. Take the cards to the casino cash cage and they will give you the dollar amount on the cards you give them. There is no service charge for doing this. I mainly do it for the double points and to have cash for the cruise (if needed) without having to either bring the cash with me or buy traveller's checks. I always pay off the credit card bill so there is no finance charge involved when purchasing the casino credits.

Treven Posted November 3, 2009 #9 Share Posted November 3, 2009 After the final payment, I usually tell my TA to send a "gift" to myself in the amount of $500 or whatever. I intend sending myself a couple $500 gifts between final payment date and whatever deadline there is for my cruise next may.

jtsbusiness Posted November 3, 2009 #11 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Hi I am a complete novice and don't understand the benefits of any of this. Can somebody please explain why we should do this instead of just paying off normally on our credit card? Thanks
Pia1913 Posted November 3, 2009 #12 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Hi I am a complete novice and don't understand the benefits of any of this. Can somebody please explain why we should do this instead of just paying off normally on our credit card? Thanks We are really discussing sending yourself casino credits if you are using the Princess Visa. Each Princess charge to your card gives you double points. As Tina pointed out, she also does this so as not to carry cash with her. I do it purely for points.
CruzinNoony Posted November 3, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Thank you so much! Yes, it is for the double points. Pia, funny that you mentioned about me having your email addr. I found it last night!!! I am so far behind in my photo albums and am now just getting around to the Crown TA in Sept. '08 and it was in the box with all the stuff from that cruise. I thought I would email you if I didn't get a response to my question, but thanks to all of you I now know what to do. I will call Princess like Tina suggested.:D

Pia1913 Posted November 3, 2009 #16 Share Posted November 3, 2009 One other quick question: is there a limit as to how much you can gift yourself? I don't think so. Though I suppose they'd tell you if you were doing more than $10 K. Last cruise; B2B; I sent $1000/per cruise. Haven't yet decided what to send on the next one but it will be a minimum of $1000. caribill Posted November 3, 2009 #17 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Hi I am a complete novice and don't understand the benefits of any of this. Can somebody please explain why we should do this instead of just paying off normally on our credit card? Thanks Main benefit is for those who prefer to pay as much as possible on their credit card before the cruise instead of having a big bill after the cruise. For those who use the card for points, it makes no difference if you pay before or after, you still get the points.
