dkjretired Posted November 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2009 Happy 234 birthday to the United States Marine Corps and to all the other current or former Marines on these boards. Semper Fi Yes, Happy birthday to the Marine Corps, a little sad for me today. I used to call my brother every Nov. 10th to wish him Happy Birthday on the MC birthday. He passed away in July so this is the first year I can't call him but I have great memories...

Pilot70D Posted November 10, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted November 10, 2009 TriviaWhat does Semper Gumby mean? When I was in the Navy I was in the Gator Navy transporting Marines and practicing landings. It means always flexible. Marines are always flexible. Marines always adapt and overcome. Furthermore we had to be ready at all times to "borrow" things from the navy - as in anything that wasn't tied down or bolted to the deck. :D
Wine-O Posted November 10, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2009 Way back when, we used to tease them -- 200 years of tradition, 3 years of progress. :) In all seriousness, Happy Birthday!! Semper Fi!

Semper Fi! We used to say "189 Years of tradition UNHAMPERED by progress". If the army and the navy ever look on Heaven's scenes; they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines. ;)
