tour guide recommendations in Oslo

Recommended Posts

We will be in Oslo next May on a TA on the Star Princess. We would rather do a private excursion, than a ship one. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good tour guide?:)

From planning our Baltics cruise last summer, I checked on private guides for both Stockholm and Copenhagen. They were very costly, running about $100 an hour with these guides who are unionized. Oslo, like the Sweden and Denmark capitals, is very, very expensive and I would assume that it would be this costly in this Norway city. Ship tours are not perfect and totally personal, but their value, by comparison, might be worth considering. That's what we did for an overview of the city, seeing City Hall, Vigeland Park and the Munch Museum, etc. It was a good half-day option.

The good news is that Oslo is fairly compact and the key attractions can be reached either by walking or using public transportation.

You can contact Oslo's tourism office by this phone: 815 30 555 or you can e-mail them at info@visitoslo.com

Some taxi companies will do guide service in a fashion. For outdoor focused tours, you can check out this option:

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
