ddsdoc Posted December 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2009 have a mid-afternoon flight after debarking in miami....curious as to suggestions/options to kill time in lieu of sitting @ airport....the post-cruise excursions recommend flight time after 3 but ours is 2:45...what have people in this situation done?? GXmanDC Posted December 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Last year we walked around bayside shopping area and had lunch at a casual place, maybe chili's (can't remember). We actually ran into our cruise director, Gordon, who was grabbing a bite before heading to the airport to go back to Spain. You could also take a cab over to South Beach and walk around Collins Avenue or Lincold Rd. Lots to do and see. We used RCI Luggage Valet so we did not have to worry about dragging our suitcases around.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted December 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2009 As above.... we did the the South Beach thing.... although we were with family who actually live in Miami.
cruiseguy1016 Posted December 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2009 If you've never had a tour of the Everglades, it's worth the trip one time. It was fairly interesting once but I don't recommend it a second time. You can book the excursion through RCI. They will load all of your luggage on the bus and it will stay there until they drop you off at the airport.

I believe the OP was worried about the timing on this with a 2:45 flight instead of a 3:00 flight.
ddsdoc Posted December 9, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted December 9, 2009 so, if we take a cab to south beach will there actually be something open @ appprox 8-9am on a sunday??? anyone hazard a guess as to cost from the pier??
Hvnfuninmn33 Posted December 10, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2009 Just booked my flight home leaving Miami 12:25 PM. I'm hoping that is late enough to get off the ship and get to the airport. I haven't cruised since 2005 so can't quite remember what time we were able to get off the ship! I'll be on NCL Pearl......
deepnite10 Posted December 11, 2009 #8 Share Posted December 11, 2009 we had a 3pm flight out and decided to hide out..they found us and escorted us out to debarkation and still were able to find plenty of cabs outside waiting..
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 11, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 11, 2009 Your challenge will be luggage unless you have very little or can make arrangments to check it in for your flight from the cruise ship terminal if that is available. The other thing is to be sure you are one of the last ones off the ship. Keith
