wg6530 Posted December 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2009 We'd like a table for 2 for our anniversary cruise, and we have placed our request. If we don't get the table we want in traditional dining, will we be able to switch to MTD on embarkation day? Or is MTD likely to already be full? We are sailing IOS 9 nights in Feb 2010 if that changes the answer.

I believe that they hold back a certain amount of space in MTD for people who don't book until they board, but if you don't want to run the risk of being denied a table in MTD, you should probably book in advance. There seem to be quite a few tables for two in the MTD section of the dining room, so you would have your best chance of getting what you want by booking MTD. You can usually get the same service staff if you want and you will have the advantage of having flexibility in your choice of dining times. Aquahound Posted December 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2009 On my recent Radiance cruise, I requested a table for 2. We looked at the table upon boarding and found it to be a 4-top. Initially no one else was scheduled to sit there but, of course, that changed. We ate there the first night. On day two, we changed over to MTD. There was no problem. Because we changed so late, we could only get in to eat at 7:30, which turned out to be perfect for us.
dougp26364 Posted December 21, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2009 On our last cruise a couple of months ago, they were still taking MTD reservations on day 2 of the cruise. I doubt you'll have a problem.
John Henry on CC Posted December 21, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2009 It varies from ship to ship and cruise to cruise. Sometimes MTD *is* full. To be completely sure, change your booking now. If you don't mind taking a chance, wait until on board.
mehitabel Posted December 21, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 21, 2009 We switched ours yesterday (for an April cruise) from traditional to My Time, and I'll tell you that it's a relief to have the gratuities--ALL of them--paid already. One less thing to budget for later.
lablvr2 Posted December 21, 2009 #8 Share Posted December 21, 2009 We swtiched to MTD on Serenade last month with no problem. Table for 4 with our friends. Loved the 700pm schedule. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
mohavemommy Posted December 21, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 21, 2009 I tried to switch to MTD in November on Radiance and was told it was all full. :(
wg6530 Posted December 22, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted December 22, 2009 I appreciate all the replies. It sounds as if MTD is usually, but not always, still available on board. I'll talk it over with DH.
