The Hated Smoking Question

HAL could never have part of the Casino non-smoking -- there is absolutely no way that the smoke would not "float" over to that section. It is one big open area.

As it is the ventilation in the Casino on all HAL ships is terrible. You can actually see a low cloud of smoke at various times in there.

Even on the couple of evenings when they have a couple of hours of "non-smoking" you can still smell the smoke from before.

I'm a smoker, so I think I'm probably more aware of "smoking permitted" venues, in that I am always wondering if I can smoke or not. I usually base that on signs, whether others are smoking, and the presence or absence of ashtrays. I don't "light up" if there's no one else around smoking.

Honest to goodness, I have NEVER seen anyone smoking in the casino in the last 3 cruises. True, I'm only in there a part of an hour, a few days or nights, and my total cruise days on the last 3 cruises is only 24 days, but you'd think I'd have seen someone by now. I wonder if the activity increases as the night goes on?

We usually walk through the Casino shortly after our dinner which is the 5:45 time slot -- so are passing through around 7:30. And we have seen quite a few smokers in there -- especially at the slot machines.

This is why I mentioned that there isn't any way for HAL to have just one part of the Casino smoke free as the person suggested that I quoted.

This will be my first HAL cruise, but on Carnival, it seems that the Casino & Piano Bar are two areas that are frequented by smokers & the smoke is very heavy in both areas.

The Piano Bar/Piano Lounge is a non-smoking venue on every HAL ship that has one.

The degree to which smoke may drift in is variable.
