capnlars Posted December 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2009 For the last several weeks, RCL website has showing the March 11 2010 Grandeur (from Tampa) 4 night cruse with pricing for the OS at around $1800 total (about 450/day). As a comparison point, the Monarch 3 day for the same weekend is $2338 for 3 days (about 780/day). I booked the Granduer yesterday. Looked today, and the price is now $3300 total (about 825/day), which is what I would have expected. This was not a Tuesday special, as the pricing is the same as when I first looked a couple of weeks ago. Did we just get lucky and there was some mistake or do the prices vary that widely from week to week?
BehrHunter Posted December 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Are you for real? How many people are you talking about? I have never paid more than $120 per day per person for a balcony.
kyriecat Posted December 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Pricing varies widely and I can't figure it out. I've booked cabins that increased to almost double what I booked at then suddenly dropped to several hundred lower and back high again. I wouldn't try to ponder why you got a good rate - just be happy that you did.

Am I for real??? Yes. Do you think all the Owners and Royal Suites go out empty every trip? Those people aren't paying 120/day.

On our cruise on the Equinox this month, the only empty cabin was the Presidential suite. They gave it as a prize on the second day of Bingo. I had the 7-night Radiance cruise out of Tampa booked for next September, had an OS for $1899 per person (have since cancelled it in favor of a different itinerary). But I normally would not have spent that much on a cabin, but that was a STEAL so I splurged.
camofwilliamsburg Posted December 31, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 31, 2009 To each his own. If that is where you wish to be and that cost is ok with you then you got a great deal in comparison to where it went quickly in a week. I would keep checking it to see if it goes down, although you do not seem to mind the high cost of a cabin. Have fun! We were in a E1 balcony on JOS and our new friends were in the VIVALDI suite. I have no idea which that is but it was HUGE and beautiful. It was well over 800 sq ft! They were happy with the price they paid and said it was priced right for them to book it. Everyone has different thresholds for sailing. I would love to be able to book these suites and not have to worry would it be the only cruise for years. Enjoy it! amybeth4 Posted December 31, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 31, 2009 Omg, thats a good bingo prize, where you there when someone won it? I saw a guy win an Owner's Suite on the Liberty in Nov. Not only did he win it, he won it on the last possible ball, he was the ONLY one who was just one number away from winning AND he got $1553 on top of it! Needless to say, he and his wife were shocked and the rest of us were fumin'! :)
soakedbythesea Posted January 6, 2010 #11 Share Posted January 6, 2010 Does $599 for 13 day cruise on Adventure of the Seas seem too high? - That is pp, so double that and add tax and fees for a couple. Maybe because it's from San Juan to Barcelona on May 2 there isn't much interest, or that it has 8 sea days and only stops at 6 ports in PR, Canary Islands and Spain. Hope somebody onboard can understand English - Si? Anyway, the suites don't seem to be even $120 pp ea day, which would be over $1500 X 2 + tax & fees. Our total package for 2 people in oceanview cabin, including tax & fees, (unless they add fuel charge) is under $120 each day. Guess they make up for it on drinks and bingo. Hope they have some kind of entertainment, or we could try to ice skate on our own and climb the rock wall or play mini golf. I'll try not to lose too much in the casino, but hope my winnings will cover at least a couple of days, as usual. Any ideas on RCI stock? Think they'll make money this year & stock will go up or pay good dividend? Sure, Mr. Chairman, you can use my comments on your blog, but I don't own a great deal of your stock right now. andrzej5914 Posted January 6, 2010 #12 Share Posted January 6, 2010 Couple of months ago I started to look at cruises out of Tampa. One date really caught my eye, JAN28 on the Grandeur of the Seas. JS was priced at $519 per person. I grabbed it because the same cruise just before or after was ~$699+ per. A week later our cruise went up to and still is $899 for JS. The $380 difference per person, or $760 total, will be used for on board charges and 1 excursion in Cozumel. We're happy! Don't question it, just enjoy your good fortune. ;)

Ambrosia64 Posted January 6, 2010 #14 Share Posted January 6, 2010 $600 for a 13 night cruise??????? Wish I could get away that long - that's a steal IMO! I'm happy I got a E1 balcony for a 4 nighter for $300 leaving in 2 weeks. Puffinater Posted January 6, 2010 #15 Share Posted January 6, 2010 Are you for real? How many people are you talking about? I have never paid more than $120 per day per person for a balcony. And unless you pay more than $120 a day chances are you will never occupy an owners suite. A typical price of a 7 day Owners Suite is approximately $2200 or higher per person. That equates to roughly $300 a day per person thus making it $600 per day for 2 occupants. So I would have to say the OP is very real.
TravelerThom Posted January 6, 2010 #16 Share Posted January 6, 2010 $600 for a 13 night cruise??????? Wish I could get away that long - that's a steal IMO! I saw 17 night TransAtlantics this past fall [2009] priced from $399. But as has been pointed out substantial airfare required. Thom
