bec2629 Posted May 22, 2004 #26 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Just to add to the confusion... if you book with the cruise line agent while on the ship for your next cruise, you get another perk. 1- discount and on board credit for booking on the ship, 1- for a balcony and/or suite, 1 for 11 days or longer.... then you have your TA take over the booking when you return and all the bonuses stay in tact!! It will stp a lot of confusion. In my experience, it has been per person and the discount varies with the length of cruise. Diamond credit is higher. I have my TA call the 1 888 # and they get the credit for me every time. If you use a TA, you have to have them call, they won't do it for you. I'd be changing TAs in a heart beat!

San, Lucky you because I DID call the 1-888 crown & anchor number and was told our Platinum balcony discount was $100 per cabin not per person as you & other's have said they received. S.S. Cruisers Posted May 22, 2004 #28 Share Posted May 22, 2004 I think in my case "$50pp" was just a figure of speech my TA used. We got $100 off the Cabin price. She used the $50pp saying we could "apply" $50pp off each of our insurance, so insurance theoretically only cost us $25pp. Since we didn't have to come up with $100 more. Does this make sense? I know what I want to say, not sure it is reading that way though. Sorry. smoothdancer Posted May 22, 2004 #29 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Hey, Does anyone know if I book a cruise while on board will I receive a credit for less than a 7 day. We actually kind of enjoy the shorter "get away" cruises. I never booked while on the ship before because I just did not want to give up my limited time while cruising. Shine Posted June 6, 2004 #32 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Hi...we're booked on the VOS on 10/22, an 8 nite repositioning cruise. We're Diamond members and when we called the Crown and Anchor desk today, they told us to have our travel agent call them so we could get the $200 (per cabin) discount for booking a balcony cabin for 8 or more nites. We called our agent and she will be calling C&Y tomorrow morning.
atonal1 Posted June 6, 2004 #33 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Just to clear something up: NCF or non-commissionable cruise fare is just that--that is essentially port charges and taxes. The T/A is paid a commission, which is a given percentage of the cruise fare you pay. If the agent's commission is 15% and your cruise fare is $1000, the agent is paid $150. ($850 to RCI $150 to agent=$1000) The way many of us get better rates from a T/A than RCI is because the T/A discounts a portion of their commission to earn your business (sells you the cruise for $950 and earns only $100 commission). Finflapper Posted August 29, 2004 #34 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Hi Cruiselovinfamily, I got my $100 discount by finding it in a magazine sent to me from Crown & Anchor Society. Had I not looked through it, I would have tossed it thinking it was just advertisements. I saw the coupon in it and sent it to my TA who was then under obligation to validate it. So, I suggest you might want to join the Crown & Anchor Society for future discounts. There is no fee to join. Hope this info helps you and others. NYDee Posted August 29, 2004 #35 Share Posted August 29, 2004 I have 3 upcoming cruises booked on RCI through a TA. I am Platinum. I just looked at my invoices. I received $100 off balcony cabin for a 7 day cruise and $200 off balcony cabin for each 12 day cruise. I will be diamond after my upcoming 7 day cruise. Then I expect another $100 off the two 12 day cruises.
flamingosun Posted August 29, 2004 #36 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Yep, NYDee brings up a good point... if you move up a notch (platinum to diamond) after booking a future cruise, but before taking it, (because of another cruise in between), then your balcony credit on the future cruise will be increased to match your new C&A level. Example - we are currently platinum with three more cruises booked. The third one out is a balcony on a 7 day, and we have already received the $100 per cabin platinum discount for it. However, after next month's cruise, we'll be diamond. At that time, our later 7 day $100 cabin discount will be upped to $200. (We were platinum when we booked it, but will be diamond before it sails)
