mew1 Posted January 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2010 We will be getting off the ship in the morning but don't fly till 9 pm out of vancouver, any cc friends have suggestions. NCL has an excursion but it starts at 8:30 am for 3 1/2 hours, then drops you off at airport, that leaves me too many hours at the airport. Putterdude Posted January 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2010 You have several options that you could look into, the first two are tours but I don't think the will drop you at the airport: http://www.vancouvertours.com/ www.westcoastsightseeing.ca/ Another thought would be to check you luggage at one of the downtown hotles and take one of the two HOHO tours: http://www.vancouvertrolley.com/ http://www.bigbus.ca/ You would need to make your own way to the airport and you then have the option of a taxi at a fare of about $35 or you can take the new rapid transit line from downtown to the airport...its called the Canada Line: http://www.translink.ca/en/Rider-Info/Canada-Line/Map-and-Travel-Times.aspx

Earl Rosebery Posted January 5, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 5, 2010 At the cruise ship terminal there is a luggage storage area that provides short term luggage storage service for travelers. For security reasons, on-site same-day baggage storage is available at Canada Place and Ballantyne cruise terminals, for cruise passengers only. You can leave your luggage there after you get off your cruise or before you get on. Baggage storage services are provided at Canada Place by CDS Baggage. Carry-ons are $4.5, suitcase $5.5 and oversize items $7 a day. Luggage storage is available from 5am to 1am. Their phone number is 604-303-4500. From there, you could take the sea bus across the harbour, bus or taxi to Grouse mountain for lunch with a stop at the suspension bridge or fish hatchery. Fish hatchery slightly off the main bus route. Taxi back downtown. HOHO bus around the city. Afternoon tea on Granville island, back to get your luggage then 30 mins from Canada place to the airport on the Canada line. With the crazy new security procedures you MAY need to be 2 hours early at the airport. Check with your airline. You clear US immigration and customs in Vancouver! Dinner after you have cleared customs and immigration and security. If this is all too complex, the two tour companies mentioned above would accomodate you. Since they drop off at all Richmond Hotels, they would probably drop you at the airport as well. The airport is 5 minutes from the richmond Hotels. Dan G Posted January 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2010 if you got to the airport early you could also take the Canada Line Train to River Rock Casino to eat or gamble. Generally if you check in early your going to have to go thru customs with your luggage so early check in may not be a good option if flying internationally from Vanc. ranchette Posted January 5, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2010 We have the same problem and are considering getting an inexpensive hotel room at the airport so we can relax and freshen up before the flight. It might even be cheaper then taking some of the tours. We have never been in Vancouver so we are looking into the tours, but you gave me an idea for LA when I am stuck there for the day.
