globalwife Posted January 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2010 Will all the islands we visit stamp our passport of entry and exit? Or is this only done for air travel?
Ellusionz Posted January 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2010 I know Bahamas doesn't stamp. I'm hoping when I go to the Virgin Islands I can finally get my passport stamped I got last year! :)
paul929207 Posted January 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2010 Few if any of the islands will stamp your passport. If you want to get a passport stamped, ask in the cruise terminal. There is often an immigration official there who can do it.
G'ma Posted January 7, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2010 Will all the islands we visit stamp our passport of entry and exit? Or is this only done for air travel? On most islands, there is an Immigration office nearby the terminal area. Just ask someone when you get off the ship. They will be glad to stamp your passport.....if the office is open. Mommyof1 Posted January 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2010 That's a great question. I've never thought to ask. I've been to Mexico 3 times and never got a stamp...I'll make sure to ask next time :)
kitty9 Posted January 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2010 Your passport rarely gets stamped anywhere, anymore, not even in Europe. You could waste a lot of valuable island time just looking for a place to get your passport stamped. To me, it's not really worth it.
Rare silentbob007 Posted January 10, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2010 You are typically in control of your passport when you are on a cruise (the ship doesn't keep it), so nothing happens unless you make it so. My passport usually stays locked in my cabin safe and, personally of course, I'm not sure the possibility of getting it stamped is worth the risk of it getting lost/stolen because you are constantly carrying it around with you. globalwife Posted January 11, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted January 11, 2010 Thanks all! I actually don't want it stamped. My passport pages are almost all filled up and it is only three years old. I am pretty sure I am going to have to get more pages put in it soon but would rather hold off as long as possible. On the other hand, my husband is Colombian and would like as many stamps as possible because it looks better to have travel in your passport when applying for future visas. If you have a US passport, there is no charge for getting additional pages put in.

ithaca gal Posted January 27, 2010 #14 Share Posted January 27, 2010 Unless you are going to get your passport stamped and take it right back to the safe in your room, I agree that the stamps are not worth the risk of having it stolen while you are in port.
