Earthquake in Haiti!

This is a tragedy! It is among the poorest areas in the Caribbean, and these people have so much to deal with just on a regular day. My prayers go out to them. Also surrounding areas, Dominican Republic and Cuba included, since they are warning of tsunamis.

CNN and AP are reporting a 7.0 initial quake and a 5.9 aftershock just took place 14 miles from the capital Port au Prince. Tsunami warnings out all over the Caribbean.

God help them.:(

This is a huge quake. I'm sure it was felt on many islands with damage beyond Haiti.

Ditto what you are saying, except that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, from what I've read-makes it that much worse.......

Very true... its so unforunate for this to happen in this area especially. A lot of the buildings are not well made nor structurally sound for this kind of event. Who knows how long it will take them to recover.

Kinda makes complaining about a line up at a buffet or a chair hog seem silly...:(

This sure does put "life" into perspective though doesnt it?

Exactly. :)

"I once complained I had no shoes, until I met a person that had no feet."

Lots of them happening all over the world. I live in California not too far from Eureka where we had a big one the other day and many aftershocks.

I was born in Eureka and have family in Arcada and Sacto. I was worried for them!

I've been watching this quake info and worried about cruise ships in the area...
