Who's familiar with Hollywood Beach?

Never been but we're going to stay there on Valentines weekend post cruise. Looking for somewhere to relax and spend time on the beach. My options are Crown Plaza for about $100 on Priceline, nice hotel but don't like that they are not on the Broadwalk. Ramada for about $123 on Hotwire, - I like that it's on the beach but reviews aren't good and the rate is for a full size bed. DH is a big guy so I don't like that part. Marriott Hollywood Beach. Big bucks but right on the Broadwalk and a nice hotel so I'll get both of what I want. Now, I'm reading about this other place called Hotel Sheldon. Looks clean, on the Broadwalk and very affordable. Can't decide and don't know the area so unsure of the locations of each of these hotels and regards to beach front restaurants etc. Can anyone advice? Please?? Thanks!!!

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza in June. Our room was very nice, only complaint was that we were on the top floor, 10th I believe, and we could hear the cables from the elevator hitting against the ceiling/wall all night long. It is across the street from the beach. There is a traffic light and crosswalk to cross right in front of the hotel, I believe it is a 6 lane road. Once across, there is a nice brick pathway along the edge of the parking lot of the condos there. The Crowne Plaza has umbrellas and chairs for rent at the beach. There are no restaurants right here on the beach. However, the condo must have a restaurant because there were girls out on the beach taking orders for drinks and snacks. The Westin Diplomat is just down the beach a bit.

The Crowne does charge for parking. Our rate, $99 for upper/$79 for lower floor, did include breakfast and 2 bar drinks. I would not pay the $14-$15 they normally charge for their buffet, definately not worth that much. They do have a huge beautiful infinite, zero entry pool right on the water way with lots of chairs and 8-10 cabanas. They had live music a couple evenings while we were there.

Hollywood Marriott, never have stayed here but we have had some drinks and snacks on their patio. The restaurant area looks very nice. When staying in Fort Lauderdale, this is the section of beach we usually go to. It is very nice.

We stayed at the Marriott. Loved it. Great location if you want to be close to the beach. Had a lovely view from the room of both the intercoastal and the ocean. We walked along the broadwalk and it was great.

The restaurant is a little pricey, but you are right along the beach, and it was worth the price to me.

I would stay there again in a heart beat.

The pool was heated and I wish we had more time to enjoy it. There was hardly anyone using it when we were there because it was kind of cool out.

We've been to Ft Lauderdale and Miami many, many times and our stay at the Westin Diplomat was the best of the lot. Hollywood is a nice alternative to both Miami and Ft Lauderdale.

Enjoy your stay!

We stayed at the Marriott several years ago ... it was wonderful! Great location, nice pool area, good beach amenities ... right on the boardwalk. We ate a few meals in the restaurant, and the outside plaza they were excellent. (A side note, one of the chefs, who was from Haiti, was on the last season of Top Chef)

There were quite a few places to eat along the boardwalk, we had a very good lunch or snack at a few of them ... they ALL looked good!!

We did a lot of driving around the entire area as well, found it easy to get around, close to the race track (I can't remember the name but it was very nice & we had a great time even tho' we didn't pick any winners) and the Hard Rock casino/resort. Lots of restaurants of all types in the area

I'll third this (short walk to Broadwalk). However if this is not possible, the Marriott.
