Chef's Table & Your Time Dining on Ecstasy

John Heald posted some information regarding the Chef's Table on the Dream on his blog last night (LINK). WE WILL BE THERE!!

The menu looks very nice ... and, frankly given that and the $75 cover charge, I was surprised at the way a few of the (pictured) people were dressed. Granted, it is IN the kitchen, but my feeling is that we will dress at least as well as we do for a regular night in the MDR - AKA: no t-shirt, no sweatshirt with writing down the sleeve... (I don't put this in the same category as a mid-day tour of the galley)!!

On the Ecstasy the dinner is held in the library on the Atlantic deck. I'm positive it's a perfect venue for such an event!

Have you seen pictures of the library?? It looked so nice. It obviously was totally redone and there was this huge (and I mean huge, almost as tall as a person) globe when you walk in.

The library is gorgeous. I was so surprised they did so much remodeling, when they hardly did anything to Conquest in dry dock.

So... the Chef's Table is NOT in the kitchen on the Ecstasy? I contemplated doing a "Chef's Table" dinner when we were last in Vegas - but decided against it. It was also in the actual kitchen. It would seem odd, to me at least, to have such an event and it not actually be in the kitchen. Yes, I can see where the design of the kitchen might preclude the placement of a table - in those instances where they have the dinner elsewhere, perhaps they should consider revising the name... as I would hope the Chef is IN the kitchen!

Tom,

We did the Chef`s table on the Emerald Princess this past October. The meal did start in the kitchen and moved into the main dining room after several courses. It was a fabulous evening and a bit more of a production then what it appears CCL has to offer so far. Princess also provided one copy of their Princees cook book along with menu and two pictures. We are looking forward to CCL`s Chef`s table. We will do our best to be selected for our Dream sailing on 2/20.

Looks like we just missed you and Cheryl again. At least lucky for us Don had booked before he found out we were joining him. Hope our cruise cards cross some day.

I tried to get Don to switch dates, but it was a no-go!

He's a super nice person - say HI for us!

Tom,

DH and I were at the Chef's Table on the Jan. 18 sailing of the Ecstasy. We did not eat in the kitchen. You are met at the piano bar by the chef and escorted to the kitchen. We were given a tour of the kitchen and then had appetizers in the kitchen along with champagne. We were then escorted into the Library where the rest of the dinner was held.

Fire, agree with you the Library looked fabulous and was a great place to have dinner.

Wasnt it gorgeous??!! I was surprised and amazed at how good of a job they did on so many things in dry dock. Not that the library was ugly on other ships ... but it was larger and just so elegant looking on Ecstasy.

The card room is no more, the have a sign like Circle C or 02 or whatever on the door now .. (even though it still shows the card room is on that deck on the elevator, it no longer exists). They really did a bang up job.

Does anyone ( Mach ) know how you go about booking it? Thanks!

Rick,

When you get on the ship (at least on the Ecstasy) go to the Maitre 'd and sign up. They will take your name and room number. You will receive a letter telling you where and what time to meet and what day. On the five day we were on it was the night after the first full day at sea. Hope you get a chance to try it. DH and I really enjoyed it.

Here's what Chris told me regarding the schedule for the Chef's Table:

The Chef's Table:

Limited to 12 guests, a 2 ½ Hr. Dining Experience . Our executive chef will meet you, you’ll tour the kitchen and have a pre-dinner cocktail party. The chef will personally escort you through the galley, where you'll be able to see the galley in full operation. No cameras or recording devices are permitted on the Galley Tour portion. Guests are reminded that they are walking through a working kitchen, which means they must be cautious, walk slowly, and watch their step. No high heels, flip flops, etc. Next is a 7 course meal prepared by our executive chef himself. Dinner includes unlimited Red and White wine, or soft drinks if guests prefer that. Each guest will also receive an 8 X 10 chef’s table group photo, and a set of Carnival Cruise Lines F & B Books. Following dinner, the executive chef will join you for dessert. The regular dinner menu will also be available if the guest prefers that. All for $75.00. For information, contact your Maitre D’.

So far we have rave reviews about this and not one negative report. The location is the library, deck 8 Fwd and just outside the Wind Star dining room in the atrium. We do this on the second port day of the 5 day cruise, and Cozumel night on the 4 day.

There ya' go! On our cruise, in three weeks, it will be the evening after our visit to Cozumel. We make port in Progreso then Coz the next day...
