motherchic Posted January 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2010 Hi, I have never sailed with Princess or Royal. I have always sailed with Celebrity. we want to cruise in May to the Med. Both are 12 day cruises. Both have very good itineraries . If you had to choose... We are in our mid 50's. Both seem to have good roll calls. My only plus and I dont know how much that would be... is I have 12 sailings with celebrity that can be transferred to their "perks" club. We enjoy evening entertainment, love a quiet pool area. Any suggestions would REALLY help. Thank you, Nadine
tcdcruiser Posted January 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I've sailed both Princess and Royal, and must say I personally perfer Princess. Typically, I'd say the Royal ships have more childeren aboard which might be a consideration. However, given that this a Med Cruise maybe it would be less so. Never sailed Celebrity, but have heard it is very similiar to Princess.
Rare Coral Posted January 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2010 The deciding factor for me would be price and itinerary. In the Med - it is the ports that are important. Overall I prefer Princess to RCCL but prefer the Brilliance design to the Ruby design (having sailed Crown and Radiance).
deadzone1003 Posted January 24, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2010 The deciding factor should be itinerary. The cruiseships on these runs are basically floating hotels. You have very few sea days. You have early starts and long days at ports. I doubt you will spend too much time or have much energy for entertainment. On the few sea days the pools will be mobbed and noisy. The best thing for you on these runs are flexible dining schedules. Also, if you are used to Celebrity, Princess may be a better fit in terms of food. PoohUnderstands Posted January 24, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I was on the Med Cruise in September, 2006 on the BOS. It was the 12 day cruise RT from Barcelona with an overnight stay in Venice. I cruise itinerary and price and have cruised all the major lines. I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and ship and its personnel. However, I do have one caveat for you. THIS IS NOT CARIBBEAN CRUISING!!! What I mean is that the tours are very long days, wonderful, but grueling. I was therefore glad to have the overnight in Venice and three sea days. Best way to see the sights of Europe, but not a lay back and relax cruise. For the Med cruise my best recommendation for you is to choose itinerary over ship and or line.
