coops Posted January 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Thought I read this sometime ago, just couldn't find it. Is it true if I prepurchase casino credit or obc with my Princess visa I will get double points? And then I would get a statement in cabin to cash in casino without a fee. Also when I order this do I get an email statement or mailed statement? Thanks, Dawn

can786 Posted January 31, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2010 I believe any Princess purchase is double points? Yes, you get double points for any Princess purchase, whether before the cruise or your onboard account.
caribill Posted January 31, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2010 And what you get in the stateroom is a card (or cards) that you take to the casino cashier. You sign the card(s) and you then receive their cash value. By the way, there is no requirement to actually use the money in the casino.
zoethesailor Posted February 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Would this be considered a cash advance, that charges over 21% on the credit card?
Pia1913 Posted February 1, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Would this be considered a cash advance, that charges over 21% on the credit card? It is not considered a cash advance. When you charge casino cash to your credit card it's just another vendor charge. But that amount is charged to your card immediately. It has nothing to do with your charges on board ship. Actually Earl, they were salivating thinking about how they were going to get all that money you were going to lose. :D Hope you proved them wrong. caribill Posted February 2, 2010 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2010 Would this be considered a cash advance, that charges over 21% on the credit card? You charge it to your credit card when you call in to Princess. It is a regular charge, not a cash advance, so if you pay your credit card bill by the due date, there is no additional charges by the credit card company. stlrboo Posted February 6, 2010 #16 Share Posted February 6, 2010 Barclay has been carrying the Princess card since its inception, which I believe is almost two years ago.Barclay dumped the Carnival Rewards Card, and I inquired about the Princess card, and it is no longer available (per the Princess website)! :( I still carry the RCI card thru B of A, but I really have no desire to pay the exhorbitant prices to sail on RCI! I almost have enough points to do so tho', and then I'd be Platinum with them, so who knows! ;)

Is that true of any credit card other than the Princess Visa (not treated as a cash advance) for Casino?
CruisingJs Posted February 6, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 6, 2010 Barclay dumped the Carnival Rewards Card, and I inquired about the Princess card, and it is no longer available (per the Princess website)! :( Seriously? They said it was no longer available? Mine was about to expire and they sent me one good through 2012. I just cashed in points last week for $250 OBC for our cruise in April. It's been a really good deal for us. I purchased casino credits ahead of time for our last cruise to get the double points and I'll probably do the same thing this time. Paying for your cruise with the card is where you really earn your points. I even put my DD and SIL's cruise on my card and had them write me a check. ColoRockiesFan Posted February 6, 2010 #19 Share Posted February 6, 2010 I just did a search of the Princess website. Just searched for Visa and it took me to the FAQ page for the Princess Visa as well as live links to apply. The card appears to still be available. The card was originally offered in December of 2007 and I got mine the first day.I just cashed in my 200,000 pts for $4,000 which paid for our European cruise in April. I was close. ;) I didn't get one for the first year, but have already cashed in $750 and have another 60,000 pts. to do that again. This time I'm waiting a bit longer. Happy2cruise Posted February 6, 2010 #24 Share Posted February 6, 2010 I just went to the Princess website and scrolled down to the bottom. The link to the visa card was gone. I then signed in to My Princess, scrolled down and the link is there. Clicked on the link and up comes an explanation of the card and an application to apply. They are still offering it. Looks like Princess just moved the link.
