This is one of those times when a search will do a lot of good. "Barcelona Hotels" is probably the most frequently asked question on this forum. There are actually two open threads on this subject right now!

Go back to the main page for Oceania, click on "Search this Forum", and enter "barcelona hotel". Be sure to enter the quotation remarks around the phrase, or you will get every mention of barcelona or hotel.

Hotel Montecarlo...just won a top award on Trip Advisor...we have stayed there and it was great..right on Las Ramblas...ask for a room in the rear of the hotel if you are concerned about noise from Las Ramblas. LuAnn

We've stayed at the Duc de la Victoria Hotel on a few occassions. It's part of NH Hotels. It is in the Pedestrian Zone where only taxis and delivery vehicles can enter. It's a few blocks east of Las Ramblas and a few blocks south of the Plaza de Catalunya . Breakfast can be included and it's very quiet. Ask for a room with a balcony - it's a small balcony but with large doors that let in the air.

We stayed at the Regencia Colon also. Inexpensive and a great location.

Cynthia

We stayed at the Regencia Colon in November, and agree that it was a great location and value. We walked the few steps to the Hotel Colon a couple of nights for cocktails and a light dinner in the bar. We walked to Las Ramblas, and could catch the HOHO bus about a block away.

I'll jump on the bandwagon -- we stayed a total of 3 nights at the Regencia Colon in 2007, and enjoyed it very much. If you get one of the corner rooms, you actually have a small slice of the cathedral in view, becuase the Regencia juts out a little past the Colon. The same family owns both hotels; the staff moves back and forth, and the linens are all the same.

If you get a room in the front of the Colon, you have a full view of the cathedral square. If you get a room in the back of the Colon, you have a view of -- the Regencia Colon.

From the cathedral square, it's a short walk through narrow streets with lots of shops and loads of character to arrive at Las Ramblas near the Placa Catalonya. Go out the other way, and it's walking distance to the Palau Musica. We also walked from the hotel to the port, but I wouldn't want to go that far with luggage. We shared a mini-van to the port, called by the Regencia desk staff, with another couple and all the luggage for about 20 Eu including tip. The Regencia desk staff also arranged our rental car and held our luggage while we went galivanting around the Spanish countryside. The rental they arranged was less expensive than if i had booked it ahead with one of the major companies, and the car was delivered to, and picked up from, the hotel. An agent of the car rental place met us in the lobby and signed all the papers there, and took our AmEx number. We never saw his office.

We stayed at the Acta Atrium Palace - terrific location, nice hotel. Good reviews on Trip Advisor. We wanted close but not "in the Ramblas confusion". Easily walkable to many areas, especially our favourite patio bar, Navarra! Do the hop on/hop off - it was a hoot and a great way to see the city. Barcelona is lovely.

We stayed at the Hotel Jazz in June last year both before and after the cruise and thought it was an excellent choice. The price was reasonable and it was a short walk to Las Ramblas and many excellent restaurants.

Nice to know because we have booked three nights there in mid-May after our Venice to Barcelona cruise.
