LOL,

reminds me again of that crazy lady on my last cruise, when there was a fire alarm one afternoon and the crew (not the passengers !!!) where called to muster.

Talking to this lady later on she stated how she and her husband emptied the safe, grabbed their life vests and got out on the balcony (Deck 11) considering how to jump and swim over to get ashore.

I was in disbelieve and had a hard time to not laugh but simply state for heavens sake WHY???

To all those not being there, we were still tied securly to the pier and all she needed to do to escape was walking across to port side, a few decks down and leave the ship over the gangway;):D

From Deck 11 they are considering jumping?? Holy crap, send those people a bottle of something. scotch, xanax ...

fun story

Well, I'm not a "smoker" smoker, but I do enjoy smoking when I'm on vacation. I like being able to smoke in some of the bars at night when it's either too cold or too windy to go outside... or because I've had a few too many drinks. Smoking is something I only do when I drink, so for me - NO to banning smoking on cruises. I think people should be courteous and stick to the smoking areas only. I personally hate it when I'm laying next to the pool and someone is smoking and the wind blows it in my face. Gross. But there's enough bars on the ship that people should be able to find an enjoyable environment.

Just my thoughts

Without smoking the cruise would be boring? Yeah, every cruise I have been on, I always get home and think how much better the cruise was with all those smokers! (sarcasm)

What is with all the no votes from non-smokers? Are you thinking that if they ban smoking, it will lead to other things being banned? If you don't smoke, why would you want all that nasty smoke residue all over your clothes and such (let alone the ship carpet, furniture, etc.)

If they could invent some sort of smoking helmet or suit, where the smoke STAYED only with the person smoking, that would be fine, but until then, smoking is a nasty habit that infringes upon others. Forget the second hand smoke health issues, it's just the nasty smell that gets in your clothes and hair. I don't take my glass of wine an sprinkle drops of wine on fellow passengers as I enjoy my wine (or beer, or whatever), yet someone who smokes is basically putting the smoke all over my clothes, skin, furniture on the ship, carpet, etc. I just don't understand why people accept it so much (especially non smokers). I am fine if you want to smoke, just do it outdoors away from other people. It is a fairly unique problem that people tend to lump together with other such things like crying babies, alcohol, etc. Smoking is not like those other things. After you leave dinner and had to listen to a crying baby for a few minutes during dinner, you don't go back to your cabin and continually "hear" the crying from your clothes, skin and hair. When I go back to the cabin, my clothes smell for quite awhile. And if I don't shower right away, I'll be smelling it in my hair and skin for quite awhile. Sure you have the occasional heavy perfume wearer, but they should ban that sort of behavior too, or give designated perfume wearing areas outside of the ship.

I believe it is possible for an eardrum to suffer damage if exposed to certain tones/ranges at sufficient volume.

I can understand, to a point, the casino issue.

What I can't understand is the general wailing about smoking areas on open air decks. Don't sit at a table WITH an ashtray and then complain. Yeesh. It's not like every area has an ashtray!

I understand the Promenade as well. It is enclosed and can become smokey.

While we are playing RCI gestapo can we add to the list hairy, corpulent people in speedos? They tend to make me queasy and therefore food is unappealing... technically they are costing me money through the loss of mass food consumption!:D

Let the smokers be.

What I don’t understand is all the whining smokers do about having to stand or sit outside to enjoy their cancer stick. Or have to be told “this is a nonsmoking section”. How about the hairy, corpulent guy in Speedos smoking a big fat cigar. Talk about wasting your money, smoking doesn’t? What’s a pack of cigarettes cost? Let the nonsmokers be free of the stench of second hand smoke.

Assuming that I am a smoker?

Honest mistake. I forgot that my significant other was already logged in under her user ID and email address. I have already been forgiven.

What is important is to vote on the poll. Things are really smokin'. So far the No's are slightly in front. Should go down to the wire. The post will be up for 7 days.

Forget banning smoking, I say BAN OP for using 2 logins to get 2 votes.

This is my families first cruise. I just found out that smoking is allowed in the casino. I love to go to the casinos in Atlantic City where they have separate floors for smokers. If the casino on Freedom is smokey-I definitely will not stay!!

I wish we could have a ban on smoking all over the world, so my vote was yes.

Think of all the money lost by the medical industry, not to mention loss of taxes by the government, loss of jobs and fortunes by tobacco growers.

I'd still vote yes.

I believe that Smokers and Non-Smokers should be able to peacefully coexist!

Smoking should be limited to a portion of the Pool Deck. Smokers don't need half of the entire deck.

Smoking should be allowed in selected bars.

Smoking should be allowed on balconies.

YES! My Wife and I are both smokers!

I was a smoker - now I'm not. I hate the smell but I sympathize with those who choose to smoke and they shouldn't be excluded from cruising. Therefore, I would vote "no" but I believe there could be a compromise that makes everyone happy.

Smoking on your own balcony or on the pool deck in a specified area as well as other outside areas should be OK.

Smoking in an inside area should be banned (unless the line can provide adequate ventilation) in my opinion should be banned. It can be quite overwhelming (especially in the casino). I know they have no smoking on formal nights but why not every night. Nothing stops anyone from leaving for a 10 minute smoke break!

I would imaging the balcony is your area not public even though a slight waft of smoke could blow next door.

Just a matter of time ,within 2 years, before RCCL does the right thing and bans smoking on balconies.Slight waft is the same as slightly pregnant or slightly dead

Im not bothered either way if they ban it or not. I have had smoke blow by me on a ship if standing forward by the rail but it goes as quick as it comes. Could not smell it sat down behind the dividers. Personally I dont see it as a problem but the casino does get smokey and doesnt waft past.:)

NO and no matter what others feel this will NEVER happen. (by the way I do not smoke)

Nobody thought that other smoking restrictions would happen but face it they did and there or more to come no matter what you want to believe
