I am doing my first back to back in October.

When the ship returns to port after cruise 1 of a back to back, is it possible to leave the ship then return before thd sail away? If so what is the procedure for reboarding.

Thanks

Absolutely you can get off. The procedure for getting a new seapass card depends on the port where you are on the turnaround day. Basically you get a new card, and on our Rhapsody b2b last October they even transferred your picture from the first cruise to the second.

We always get off early, because the ship is pretty hectic until 11:30 when they open the Windjammer. If it's a new port to us, we stay off until near to sailing time.

Peggy is correct, but some b2b's are different than others, depending on the port. Sometimes it's a simple matter of collecting your new card at a given venue spot, and then getting off of the ship.

In other ports, when you get off, you need to get your new card from the pier. Weird.........but true!!;)

As a general rule (but by no means all encompassing!) in US ports you have to get off, go through Immigration with your passport and then you get your new seapass card and get back on the ship. This is a bit of a pain, as if you want to 'go places' you have to hang around for this process as you will be the last people off the ship. In non US ports (certainly European) you get your new seapass card left on the bed the night before...and thats it! Get off next morning and be back before the ship sails...and walk past everyone else queueing for check in!!

All of the above information is correct, but on our recent Voyager B2B there was a very nice special luncheon in the main dining room for the B2Bers. You might consider that aspect in your planning. :)

We were looking forward to the special lunch on our b2b in December, but as there were only 4 of us 'staying on', they didn't do it. What a let down!

When we did out B2B on the Navigator this Jan, if we wanted to get off the ship on the turnaround day in Miami, we were able to leave as early at 8:00AM. If we were not getting off the ship (which we did), we met at 10:30, and they handed out our new seapass cards. Then, as a group, we got off the ship, went through immigration, then reboarded (this is when they did the new picture for the seapass cards). They did the luncheon which we attended, since it wasn't that warm of a day. It was very nice to have the luncheon and avoid the crowds in the windjammer.

Some ships will issue special cards that say "In Transit" that they will give to those that are doing a b2b and that want to disembark the ship to explore the port.

When returning, all you need do is show the card to the rep in the terminal and they know that you are all checked in.

Does anyone know of the specifics on the Serenade in San Juan? We'll be doing a B2B on her in June.

Just off Serenade 1/16 - 1/30.

Morning before end of 1st week we had morning cocktails and cheese at social with all the other double-dippers. Cruise Relations crew checked us off on their list. They were also offering a 2-for-1 special at Chops for the first night of the next week (too good to pass up).

We had to settle up our SeaPass account for the first week.

Next morning we all waited in the theater until all the airline departure people had left the ship. We did not have to get off the ship and reboard. We only went down to the embarkation deck where we punched in our old Sea Passes and were reissued our new SeaPasses. We did have to submit any Customs forms.

Sanity reigns.
