We have a fantastic cabin on a 24hr hold for the Vision repo sailing on June 19th and we can get good flight prices on Nowegian Air but it looks like it will all be going pear-shaped because we cannot find a hotel room in Oslo for the previous night. We've tried the chains and booking.com, visitoslo etc...does anyone have any suggestions?

It looks like there are rooms at the Clarion Hotel Savoy:

http://www.choicehotels.no/hotels/hotel?language=en&hotel=NO060

If you stumble through the Norwegian, finn.no is showing a room with 3 beds at the Best Western Bondeheimen for 3600 NOK:

http://www.finn.no/finn/travel/hotel/result?areaId=20456

They also return quite a few results if you search for two rooms, but it can be a bit pricey.

Since it looks like you're on a fairly tight budget (for Norway), you could also try some of the pensions and B&Bs:

Saga Bed & Breakfast - http://www.sagabb.no

Villa Frogner Bed & Breakfast - http://bedandbreakfast.no/

Residence Kristinelund - http://www.kristinelund.no/

Villa Park Apartments - http://www.villapark.no/GB/index.php

Cochs Pension - http://www.cochspensjonat.no/

Ellingsens Pension - http://www.ellingsenspensjonat.no/

Although a lot of the B&Bs are in Frogner (west of the city center), it's fairly quick and easy to get "downtown" using the buses and trams, since Oslo is quite small.

There are 3 of us travelling, so we need a triple room or 2 rooms. We wouldn't want to pay much more than £250 total ( about $350-400). What sites are you looking at?.....I can only find hotels at the airport or miles out of town.

I was looking at basically hotels.com

Thanks for your help.

As our flight doesn't arrive in Oslo until 6pm we have decided to reserve a room at the Thon Oslo Airport Hotel. I will keep looking to see if anything central becomes available nearer the cruise, but if not we will be happy to stay there for just one night.

Hello,

So let me see if i can help you out.... I used to live in Norway recently and worked for NSB, the national railways. I am very familiar with Oslo and the airport. So where are you flying from?? If i were you i would take the train to Oslo and stay at one of the hotels right by the Central Station which is right by where you will be boarding the ship.

There are two train companies that go from Oslo Airport to Oslo Central.

There is NSB, which is slower and cheaper and the there is Flytoget.. We are talking about 20 minutes for the flytoget and costs about $25... NSb is half price and takes 30-50 minutes depending on which train you take...

For example on orbitz.com you can get the Thon Astoria for $212 in room that sleeps up to 4 people.

I would just check thonhotels.no and do a search on that... Just click the English flag and do your search....

let me know if you have any ???

We are kind of puzzled by the OPs issue. We just did a quick search on Venere.com and came up with 17 hotels that have rooms on June 18 with the least expensive city hotel at $160. Not sure about triple rooms which can often be troublesome in Europe.

We stayed at the Hotel Bondeheimen which is part of the Best Western chain. We thought the price was fair and included breakfast from which you were permitted to take lunch. Also, there were free computers to use and a light supper as well. We took the Flytoget from the airport and then walked the three blocks to the hotel. We used the Fjord Pass last summer which really saved us money. Don't buy the Fjord Pass until you know if there are any rooms at that rate available. We used the pass out in the fjords but were unable to use it at the Thon at the airport. By the way, that Thon had the best breakfast buffet we had in our time in Norway. Norway is expensive but worthwhile to visit.

If the ship leaves from where the ferry leaves to Germany, what do I want to type in as a location for a hotel. Is it DOWNTOWN, or ???????

We want a nice hotel that you can it least put 3 to 4 in a room (if possible) Seems the rooms are very small. Traveling w/4 families/16 people.

Preferably a modern hotel if there is one with out costing an arm and a leg. Which I have found they are very $$ as it is.

The Radisson SAS (BIG TALL BLUE ONE) looks really nice. But is that where we'd want to stay? We want a quick ride in the morning to the port. Anyone know about that?

Also, the BestWestern, is that nice, or just cheap?

Any particular THON Hotel that would work?

Grand Hotel, but I guess that is $$$ and is that the area I want?

Thanks for any and all your HELP! We need it.

Signed~~~confused!

We took a taxi because of our luggage- can't remember the cost but it wasn't too bad.

The BestWestern Bondeheimen has very nice bedrooms & friendly/helpful staff. The restaurant is also a cafe that locals use and the food was varied and good. Breakfast was included and we got a discount on other meals although I can't recall whether this was because we were resident or used the fjord pass.
