Off the beaten path for lobster

Hi guys, going on the Explorer ots in Oct to Canada/NewEngland, stops include Bar Harbor, Portland Maine, Boston, Halifax, St Johns New Brunswick. Does anybody know of any restaurants off the beaten paths that serve great lobster lunches, in these places? And got to have names so I can see the menus, I'm getting hungry just thinking about eating lobster and have never been on this cruise. Also am looking to take lots of pictures.

thanks,

Virginia

Here is my reply for recommendation for lobster rolls, just ignore the word roll: For Bar Harbor, I have three restaurants to suggest for the lobster roll. The Fish House Grill http://fishhouse-grill.com/home.html , located at the tender dock; Stewmans Lobster Pound http://www.stewmanslobsterpound.com/default.asp , just north of the tender dock, about a 3 minute walk from the there; and the West St Cafe http://www.weststreetcafe.com/default.asp?id=1 , located diagonally across the street from Stewmans, about a 5 minute walk from the tender dock. Either if these, will give you what you want.

If you really want an excellent cold lobster meal, I would highly recommend the Lobster Boat "Cobb" (a Cobb salad with lobster) offered by Stewmans.

None of these restaurants are "off the beaten path". Any of those will require transportation to get to. What is the exact date you will visit BH.

We've always driven to Bar Harbor and I'm hoping to be able to get off the Crown

Princess, eat my lobbies, and then walk to the shops. My question is, how far away

are the shops......like Cool as a Moose, etc. I can't picture in my mind exactly where

West Cafe is, but it looks like the highway from Ellsworth, and maybe too far from

everything for me to hobble. I mean walk.

My husband has trouble hob(walking) and didn't have a problem getting to the West Street Cafe.

We were on the Crown last October. The ship tendered into Bar Harbor, landing about 1 1/2 blocks from the West Street Cafe. (Which was also very close to where we got Oli's Trolley.)

There were shops right around the corner and while we were there they had lots of deals since it was close to the end of their season. This was one of our favorite ports. In addition to the lobster we loved the chowdah and blueberry pie.

Have a great visit!

The first street you come to as you exit the tender dock is West St. If you turn right onto West St. and walk for a block, West Street Cafe will be on your left. If instead of walking along West St., you cross it and continue to walk away from the harbor on Main St, you will quickly come to the shops including Cool as a Moose which will be on your left as you continue to walk away from the harbor.
