QV Dining arrangement

I would like to know what sort of dining arrangement will be available for me? I am travelling with my wife, mum, brother and his girlfriend!...we intend to book 2 balcony A1 rooms and I was wondering if it would be possible to have a table for "us only" for lunch and dinner? or do we have to share?

From what I understand, the meals in the "standard" Britannia will be included in the fare. But what about drinks/ snacks in other bars/ restaurants? Do I have to pay for those? I'm just to not clear about what is included and whats not...

Thanks for the help guys!

If I am right, there will be 5 of you? If so, opt for a table for 6, hopefully you should not have to share. Breakfast and lunch in the Britannia, you can ask for a table for 5.

Tea Coffee and fruit juice are free in the Lido and at afternoon tea.

All food in the Lido and Britannia are included as is afternoon tea.

You will need to pay for smoothies in the winter garden and if you eat in Todd English. Also speciallity teas and coffees in Cafe Carinthia are extra.

You will have drinks in the fridge in your cabin, but these have to be paid for, there is a form for you to fill in and sign.

It should be fairly straightforward to arrange a 'table for four' for dinner - request that on your voyage personaliser/via your TA, and when Cunard screw it up (you'll find a card in your cabin on embarkation - so you may get what you want, or not, like a table for 8, or two tables for two) go to the Maitre'D and join the queue of people asking to change their tables - its all part of the fun! You'll then have that table for dinner every evening.

For lunch your options are; i) go to Britannia and join the queue - you may have to wait a few minutes to be assigned a table for four - but you'll probably shown to one straight away, ii) go to the Lido and help yourself to a table for four, iii) go to the Golden Lion and enjoy a pub lunch at a table for four, or finally, iv) pay $20/head for lunch at Todd English - worth doing once, then take it from there...

At dinner you have the same table every night. You should request a table for your party only via your TA. Make sure all your bookings are linked. You will probably get a table for six but it is very unlikely that a single person will be seated with a group of five.

Thus yu will have your own table for all dinners.

At breakfast and lunch you show up in the restaurant and just tell the person in charge that you want a table for your group and you will get one.

Meals are also included in the Lido (buffet) and the Pub. There is a charge for meals in theTods English restaurant.

Included drinks are water, coffee, tea and a choice of other non-alcoholic drinks in the restaurants.

Also free are tea (in the Queens Room: with sandwiches and cakes) and room service.

Many thanks for the quick replies guys!!!!....much appreciated!...

So looks like the only paying will be for the Todd restaurant...

sorry about all the questions, but will drinks at the bar in the casino be also included?....

How would I know on board which service/ meal/ drinks are free? Will they inform me if they will charge me for it, prior order?

Last thing I want at the end of my trip is to get a bill with a list of items which I assumed were already included in my fare!!!...

Hi, welcome to the Cunard board. You haven't mentioned which ship you are taking, if QM2, below you will find a link to pictures of an A1 cabin (which I enjoyed on this amazing ship) under "QM2 Hamburg July '08".

I would request (via your travel agent) a table for six for dinner. For breakfast and luncheon there is open seating, so turn up together and ask for a table for six.

Drinks in the restaurants and bars will be charged to your on board account. All food is included in your fare (including 24 hour room service) except in Todd English where an additional $30 (dinner) or $20 (lunch) per person is charged. "Snacks" are available via room service or in the Kings Court buffet 24 hours a day.

I hope this helps, below are links to pictures of the interiors of QM2 (under "QM2 Transatlantic 2006") and interiors of QV (under "Queen Victoria October 2009").

Bon Voyage, have a great time.

Sorry drinks in the casino are extra as with all other bars.

The prices of drinks are displayed on the bar menu, but remember they add 15% service charge.

If you order anything that has to be paid for you wil lbe asked for your cruise card which also acts as your door key. This will be done when they take your order so you will know before hand and can cancel if you wish. When you get your order they will give you the card back and you will have to sign a receipt.

The only one to watch our for are drinks from the fridge in your cabin, but there will be a price list in or on the fridge.

Pub lunch is included in your cruise fare but you pay extra for beer or soft drinks. They serve lunch in there every day. No dinner service in the pub but there's always the Britannia Restaurant, the Lido buffet and Todd English (extra payment).

The pub lunch is only served on sea days.

Last time we were on Queen Victoria (November) it was also served when in port - which surprised us as on QE2 it was on sea days only.

It was obviously a lot quieter & therefore easier to get a table on the port days.

& don't forget to ask what the special is - they add a bit of variety :)
