Rijsttafel on Eurodam

I believe if you have 4 or more people you can get it any night, but for 3 or fewer you must go on certain nights only. At least that's the way is was when we had it. :)

BUT - on Feb 12th PZetz said

There is a minimum of 4 persons required to book the Rijsttafel. There were 3 in our group and we paid the 4 person rate (ie $80 total) in order to experience the dinner. It was well worth it!

Rijsttafel is a Dutch word and stands for 'rice table' - It's usally a sampler of Indonesian foods such as Sate Ayam (sliced chicken on a skewer, served in peanut sauce), Nasi Goreng, different meat samplers/beef sumatra, chicken drumstick, krupuk (shrimp crackers) - on land in Indonesian restaurants, it is erved with other small dishes -like fried green beansDH loves the Sambal sauce!! It't very HOT!!

It is a set menu.

Okay, just got to ask. What is it?

Here is how it is done on the Eurodam:

CLICK HERE and open the pdf to see the Tamarind Rijsttafel menu. You get everything on the menu. In some places you get many small side plates, similar to Chinese dim sum, but in the Tamarind you get one very large plate (see pic) with the rice in the center. The waitresses come by in a parade, each one giving a serving of each dish. The menu is left on the table the entire time so that you can refer to it if you forget what you're eating! Just one thing was very spicy, and the rest ranged from bland to medium spicy.

When we were on the Eurodam you either had to have a minimum of 4 people, or you had to go on a "group" night. Then one half of the restaurant is order-from-menu and the other half is Rijsttafel, so everyone at your table has to have it.
