Watch Our Live Video Tour of Azura 10 April -- Ask Questions Now!

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Having read the specs on the "new" Azura I am surprised to see that it appears to be a copy of the Grand Princess, which was built 12 years ago. Facilities are all in the same position e.g the retreat/gym and when I looked at the superior balcony cabins, they are identical to the mini suites on the Grand Princess. Another interesting fact is they are almost identical in size but the Azura will have nearly 500 passengers on board. On our sea days we often struggle to find unoccupied sunbeds on the Grand!!

Does anybody have any comments on my interpretation?

Siestaman:)

We are first time cruisers and have booked to go on the A020 Nov 26 cruise in the Caribbean.

We have booked a cabin with what is called a partialy restricted view on ME deck and we were wondering if it was possible to look in one of these cabins when you are on your live streaming vido tour or better still to have a picture posted of the cabin and with a view through the window to show how restricted the view is.

Many thanks

Wow I didnt know that. If its a copy of the Grand Princess, where are the extra 500 people accomodated? Is it in Pullman beds?

:):) Very envious of you Melissa, being able to visit Azura this weekend, I've got to wait til end of May! Enjoy! I would love to know what it will cost to eat in the alternative restaurants, like Sindu, and how far in advance we have to book them? Also will they be putting their Spa prices on-line, not for the suites but for their treatments?

I second that. Not sure why the restaurants are not bookable in advance on line and also to see how veggies are going to be looked after.

Have I missed it somewhere I thought you were posting the timing on when you were doing the live broadcast.

Thanks in advance for your questions -- and for tuning in for our special broadcast! We'll post exact times here as soon as they're firmed up. Stay tuned…

Mary and I visited the ship on Thursday and visited the cabins which had been prepared for viewing. The two single cabins we visited, one with a sea view and the other an inside were, in my view, spectacular and simply enormous. The sea view was a normal cabin, roughly the same size as the normal cabins with the same facilities but it was the inside one that really impressed me. L - shaped with loads of room and the walkin wardrobe was exactly the same as double cabins. The foot of the 'L' was a large open space. The bed in both cabins was half the size again as a single bed so make out of that what you will. I found her a lovely ship.

Melissa,

Thanks for your comments, yes we sail on Azura twice this year first one on 9th June and then on the 28 nighter at Christmas New Year.

I did realise that it was live TV but this morning not at 2pm?? The clocks on the ship were either wrong or you started around 1045am. Also Sue kept saying Good Morning to everyone. The only thing she said that Azura does not have a warap around deck to walk around, surely she is the same as Ventura in that respect, yes you go up some stairs at her bow but you can walk right round.

Great to see around anyway and will look forward to our cruises and see how it compares with Ventura.

Thanks again.

:)

Hi .sailing on Maiden Monday so looking forward to it. This will be my 60th cruise with P & O since 1978. Was on last trip of Canberra which was a fantastic experience so am interested to see how a maiden compares. Tried to get invite to naming ceremony but no luck so looking forward to Cruise Critic link on Saturday.

Have you been on the Mediterranean cruise which is 26 nites ? interested to hear your experience. I'm travelling with a cabinmate I met on a cruise in 1972!! back when we shared cabins and were young and silly.///congrats on the cruising experiences - 60 is a lot of cruises, wish I could just live onboard.

Please can we have some further info as to when the Azura video will really be available to view? The "technical difficulties" announcement has been there for some time now!:(

Like many others, I have been trying to download the file since yesterday and with no success. I only caught the last 30 mins of the live streaming yesterday, which was very good, but I really want to see the whole thing.

We are on Azura on May 10th - can't wait!:D

It JUST went up -- we hope you enjoy it. Thanks for being patient; it was quite frustrating for us, too.

Have a great time on your cruise. Jealous! :D

Video worked for me. Thanks to the team for the video.

First impressions of Azura?

For me:

A lot of dark wood in many public rooms/restaurants-overkill?

Confused by how Azura is being pitched. Marketed towards couples and experienced cruisers yet it has three seperate kids areas? Seems like P&O have not got their ideas clear with regard to who Azura is aimed at and this could be an issue for agents trying to market this to clients.

Still no wiser how the 500 or so extra passengers (compared to Crown Princess) are going to find space, especially on deck. I can see this being a major headache or is this how they will get people to shell out £10 per day to find a sunbed in the retreat? However there do seem to be umpteen bars to sit in.

Library appeared tiny...maybe we only saw a bit of it. I wouldnt use it but I think people would want more area to sit and relax.

Would have liked to see a Balcony and inside cabin. Too much time was spent on the spa/retreat area for my liking rather than showing us the things that matter to the majority.

Three speciality restaurants-overkill? I cant speak from a position of much experience on this one but on IOTS from Southampton last year the 2 speciality restaurants on that ship only had a handful of people in them each night. Do you think the majority of British people dont want to shell out more money on food? Also the cover charge was less on that ship too. Would have liked to have seen the buffet restaurant and maybe cut out a speciality restaurant instead if there wasnt time to show them.

Difficulty to judge on a video but there did seem to be a lack of window space/views from the public rooms/atrium. It is a ship afterall.

Positives though...it did look rather classy without being garish; Staff seemed extremely pleasant, single cabins (though somewhat podlike) are a big bonus; smaller casino than US ships ; bars looked lovely; some of the shows sounded excellent;

Still very excited about our trip next month but I didnt get the buzz I had wanted from seeing the video. Is it just me......

Great video you covered the whole tour.
