Kilmainham Gaol Historical Museum

We will be in Dublin in late August on a cruise with Azamara.

 

I am VERY interested in seeing the above museum.

 

What are your recommendations in the best way to get there?

 

Will there be taxis at the museum to get us back to town as well?

The HOHO bus stops at the Gaol www.dublinsightseeing.ie/citytour.aspx.

 

The tour of Kilmainham takes only around an hour. You could take a public bus there from Aston Quay. I don't know about the availability of taxis from there; however, you could pay your driver to wait.

 

Have you been to Dublin before?

No, I have not been to Dublin, but I have an Irish/Scottish heritage so I am very excited for the upcoming British Isles Cruise.

Definitely recommend going there. We took the HOHO bus, but regular buses go there as well. It is really too far to walk from downtown. We visited there then the Guinness brewery (or may have been vice versa).
