bbbaby1976 Posted April 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Someone told me that if you wait to buy your drink cards in international waters they are cheaper, because you don't have to pay the tax- Is there any truth to this? Thanks
kywildcatfanone Posted April 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Someone told me that if you wait to buy your drink cards in international waters they are cheaper, because you don't have to pay the tax- Is there any truth to this? Thanks I've never heard of this, except there is no tax anyway. My experience with Princess is that the price of the card is the same, regardless of location (price x # of days left in your cruise). dutchess43 Posted April 19, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2010 If you buy wine in port(ship docked) then there is tax but once you are out to sea no tax. Had this happen to us. Do not know about the soda.
Toto2Kansas Posted April 19, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 19, 2010 We have never had to pay tax on wine or soda or any type of cards on Princess, no matter when it was purchased.
Tralynn Posted April 19, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2010 We've never paid tax on anything whether docked or not on the ship.
boaterette Posted April 19, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2010 My first cruise on Princess is next month but on Carnival, RCCL and NCL if you purchase a cocktail while in port in California you pay sales tax on it.
cubfan63 Posted April 19, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 19, 2010 On my last two Princess cruises last year and my last Carnival cruise in February, I purchased my soda sticker before sailing and was not charged any sales tax. I do remember being charged sales tax three years ago before sailing on a Carnival cruise. Perhaps the policy has changed or is dependent on embarkation port. I think you will just have to ask before purchasing if the sales tax is a huge issue for you.
