pjs9876 Posted April 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2010 In looking at websites and cruises I can not tell which are tender only ports and which ports have a dock. Is there an easy way? I know conditions change the situation but where can I find out what is the usual procedure? I know Eastern Caribbean very well but what about Kralendijk, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles Grenada, Grenada Dominica, Dominica or Cartagena, Colombia Cristobal, Panama Puerto Limon, Costa Rica Obviously, I am looking at picking a new cruise so I need your help because someone in my party can not tender. Thank you.
princessmargaret Posted April 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2010 These three ports have docks, you walk right off. In Domenica, when you look over the side of the bridge you have to cross, you should see schools of pipe fish. Way cool. Kralendijk, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles Grenada, Grenada Dominica, Dominica
paul929207 Posted April 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2010 If you look at the itinerary at Princess.com, if a port is a tender port, it is indicated.

Paul, maybe I missed it but I have found that until you book the cruise, it doesn't list the tender required ports in the itineary. Or am I not looking in the right place before I book? I just looked at Grand Cayman and Princess Cay and do not see it indicated yet I know these are tender spots. What am I missing? tcdcruiser and princessmargaret-Thanks
Toto2Kansas Posted April 25, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Princess Cays is ALWAYS a tender port, as there is no dock. ;)
cindep Posted April 25, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2010 The three Panama Canal ports you listed all have a dock. As far as I can recall, they don't have any tender ports on that particular itinerary.
California Native Posted April 25, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 25, 2010 just a fyi... just because there's a dock, if there are multiple ships in ports you could be stuck tendering I would call Princess res and they can tell you
Grumpy100 Posted April 25, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Usually on the website it will say TR by the name of the port if it is a tendered port.
pjs9876 Posted April 25, 2010 Author #11 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Princess Cays is ALWAYS a tender port, as there is no dock. ;) Giggle- I know that is why I listed it. It just does not show till after I select and jump through the hoops. That makes picking difficult because it means a lot of wasted time. I just thought there had to be a better way. Oh well, as people are giving me the info I am creating a file and will store it on the computer. I think I know which trip we will pick. Thanks for the help! turquoisesea Posted April 25, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 25, 2010 We visited both Bonaire and Granada on the Crown and both have docks. Bonaire is very iffy due to sea conditions and sometimes does not stop there. Once I saw how they squeezed the Crown in I understood why!
Bellingham Belle Posted April 25, 2010 #13 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Doesn't the size of the ship sometimes enter into that also?
