ubsueg Posted May 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2010 We are staying at the Rubens in London near Buckingham palace. As a lifelong Beatle fan, wanted to see Abby Road. Can someone tell me where it is in relation to our hotel. What is around there? Thanks Susan

What is around there? Thanks Susan Hi Susan, To find it, first you gotta spell it :p Address: 3 Abbey Road London NW8 9AY Its about 3.5 miles NNW of your hotel, in an area known as St John's Wood. To the left of Regents Park, if you check a map. About 500 yds from St John's Wood tube station. From the station, you walk down Grove End Road & cross a certain well-known pedestrian crossing. Quite a well-heeled though unremarkable residential area, on the north-west fringe of central London. Close by is Lord's cricket ground, home of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), and the best-known cricket ground in England and the world. Just a warning that because of the construction at Buckingham Palace, it isn't the regular tour. There is an "enchanted evening" tour that I've read horrible reviews of on Tripadvisor. Can someone tell me where it is in relation to our hotel. What is around there? It's a long way from Buckingham Palace. Click this link for a Google map of where the studios are. Zoom out to see where it is in relation to central London. Zoom in to see the zebra crossing across Abbey Road, just to the east of the studios. There is very little in the area near the studios. It's really just a residential area.
Joy_K Posted May 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2010 Here is a webcam pointed to the crossing you might enjoy: http://www.abbeyroad.com/visit/ It appears to be a very busy corsswalk. Does anyone know what time of day would have least traffic during daylight hours?
graciallen Posted May 6, 2010 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2010 ^^ HaHa Joy, I was just going to say that. I checked it out today, and >>>>> YIKES. We will be there mid Aug. and wanted to tour the palace in the daytime.
Budget Queen Posted May 9, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 9, 2010 For Beatles fans an excellent cheap tour to consider is done by London Walks, who, has many excellent walking tours.
