Spirit to Alaska 5/5 - 5-11 Pic Review

Recommended Posts

They say pictures speak 1000 words....so that's how I'll do this review....lots of pics = lots of words LOL

Flew into Seattle the day before the cruise. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express downtown on Aurora...rooms were nice and clean...and couldn't have asked for anyone nicer at the front desk than Matt....

Walked around Seattle in the afternoon....went to the Space Needle for dinner....expensive but had to do it just once ! (wink)

Thanks for doing this review with so many great pics. Did you just go to Vancouver for the day??

Also I've been dying to know if the Spirit sails East of Vancouver Island.

Meaning in between Mainland and Island....or does it go out more into Pacific.

Thanks

Keep it coming:D

Got off the train and it was a good half an hour wait going through customs. The train has several luggage drops along the "sidewalk" and once off you have to walk up and down to find your own and then wait while customs with their dog walks amongst everyone.

Grabbed a cab from the train station over to the port. Word of warning...cab drivers don't like the "short" rides and can be very rude. The one we got even tried taking off before we were half way in the cab...could have been a total disaster....Then he almost rear-ended someone close enough to the point I was putting my brakes on in the back seat...needless to say, he didn't receive much of a tip from us !

None too soon, we got our first glimpse of the Spirit at Canada Place....

One of the first things I noticed was a BV basket and 2 big bottles of water on the desk. I had sent an email to the ocean players club before the cruise with all my upcoming cruise information. Within about 48 hours, I had gotten a return email thanking me for contacting them and to check in with the casino host to see what comps I may be entitled to....now, I figured that this was just a "canned" response and wasn't going to bother once onboard....boy, was I surprised !

The BV basket was full of fruit, cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine and Carnival cork screw. The two big bottles of water matched what you find in your room with a price tag of $3.95.

This was just the beginning of several wonderful surprises from ocean players....moral here .... send that email .... no telling what you may get ! LOL

Can't wait for your review, I will be headed to Seattle on the 31st for June 1st sailing to alaska, My first Cruise.

From what we heard, that should be a wonderful time of year to go to Alaska. Ours was the first cruise of the season...which had it's advantages and drawbacks. Advantages were we were the only ship in each port so felt less crowded on everything....drawbacks were the salmon weren't running yet and the bears hadn't started coming out.

We had absolutely beautiful weather....all the worrying about what to take and what to wear was for naught....I was comfortable with just sweatshirt and jeans with a light "raincoat" jacket (most of the time tied around my waist) :) It never rained once on us !

It wasn't long at all and our luggage was delivered...so spent time unpacking and getting settled in. Then walked around checking out the ship. I've been on Victory and Fascination and have to say that the Spirit is one of the easiest ships for finding your way around ! I found her to be beautiful !

We were in 5224 which when looking at the left side of the ship was the first room by the back 3 lifeboats. View was not bad so long as you weren't wanting to look down...looking straight out was not obstructed.

We were in 5234 for the Hawaii saling right before yours. How much did the cabin beside yours block your veiw from looking forward?

You can kind of tell a little bit in the pics below your post as to how much it jutted out....to see forward we had to go uptop.
