Get a guidebook! There's always a synopsis of the history/culture thing, plus, you'll learn current things about each country! And, when you go there, you won't be clueless and have to depend on ship's excursions to have your fun....you'll know where to go and how to get there!

Go to Barnes & Noble, Borders, Books-a-Million...WaldenBooks...They all have travel sections full of guidebooks. If you have a Book Warehouse in an outlet mall nearby, they wil have outdated guidebooks (guidebooks are updated nearly every year). History and geography don't change...Google you ports of call. Most countries have a tourist bureau with lots of info. EM

James Michener wrote a book titled Caribbean which was an interesting read on one of our Caribbean cruises.

Here is a link to a little info on it.

Have a great next cruise.

Yes, Caribbean is an excellent book and I am not a Michener fan but I really enjoyed this book. Great history and culture of the Caribbean. It is a much better read than a guide book.
