Need to change cruise date - 8/15 or 9/12 better?

I'm currently booked on the Aug 29th Western Caribbean sailing on the Solstice but today I found out that I need to be at work that week so I can't take the cruise. I'm still outside the full payment window so no loss of deposit for cancelling.

So, now I'm trying to decide which dates to move to. I can either do the 8/14 or the 9/12 sailings since those are still Western Caribbean. I'm leaning towards the 8/14 thinking it's a 'safer' time weather-wise. Only downside is that airfare is about $200 more during that time. Any other things I should be thinking about when making the choice?

Mikelat, We like cruising when kids are in school. We would chose the 9/12 date. :)

Hi Mike:) weather can be unpredictable either month....Katrina was

in August........

I agree with the previous 2 posters though. I would do September

as well. I was thinking about Sept 12th but found out today someone

else in my office just snagged that week.

Funny, she will be going on her very first cruise:D

I appreciate all the advice and I think I'd normally go with the Sept sailing based on it. But there were two things that have me going with the Aug sailing.

1 - I'm able to get an Aqua Class room for only $100 more than CC and only $200 more than obstructed balcony. That same cabin class is +$300 on the Sept 12th date than the Aug 15th date. (nothing special on a TA here, all prices from Celebrity's web site).

2 - Since I also have the Dec cruise booked and I'm still only 99% sure I'll enjoy cruising, the August one returns in time that if I don't like cruising I can still cancel my Dec cruise with no penalty.

If a hurricane does come into the ships expected itinerary, they may change yours, so pick a cabin category you're most comfortable with regardless of cost. A 7-night western Caribbean cruise can turn into a 7-night eastern, or 7 nights in the Bahamas and central Florida at the drop of a hat. Its happened.
