On the drydock list it shows the CORAL in drydock at the end of Sept 2012. I just booked a cruise on her for Sept 20 to Oct 4. Think the cruise will be cancelled ?

Drydocks planned for one year or more ahead of time can and do change. It appears that the next Coral drydock will start on Oct 4 just after your cruise. Looks like Princess changed the drydock location from Victoria to Freeport. This will only be a minor 10 day drydock and hopefully will not impact your cruise.

I know I'm always curious about when my favorite ships are going to be renovated, or just refreshed, (I love that International Cafe!), but the actual schedule does seem to move around a bit. I dug a current copy out of the Princess Answers database for easy reference.

The schedule shows the ship, it's scheduled date for drydock or wetdock, and the dockyard location that's handling the refit. Having been on a cruise right before a scheduled drydock, where work was already being done on the ship in preparation, I also use the list to check my plans, and bear those inconveniences in mind if and when I book a cruise abutting a scheduled drydock.

Here's the list as it is published today. I'm not sure about the Royal Princess dates - this list may have been drawn up before she was selected to leave the fleet for P&O at the end of the year:

Star Princess information is incorrect. The Star will be sailing to Hawaii from San Francisco 3/19/12, 4/13/12, 4/28/12 and to Mexico from San Francisco 4/3/12. Dry Dock is scheduled for 11/14/11..

The following update of Buddy604's original list is from post 13 on the following thread.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1332168

This is an update of my first post with 2012/2013 information. Please note that all of the below information is subject to change. My thanks to Buddy604 for the original information.

Confirmed today that no cruises are currently scheduled for the below dates

Crown Princess - 10/26/11 to 11/05/11 - 10 Days

Caribbean Princess - 11/08/11 to 11/20/11 - 12 Days

Star Princess - 11/14/11 to 12/08/11 - 24 Days

Ruby Princess - 12/11/11 to 12/23/11 - 12 Days

Sapphire Princess - 01/07/12 to 02/04/12 - 28 Days

Golden Princess - 05/09/12 to 05/20/12 - 11 Days

Dawn Princess - 05/20/12 to 05/30/12 - 10 Days

Coral Princess - 10/04/12 to 10/14/12 - 10 Days (changed dates)

Emerald Princess - 12/07/12 to 12/17/12 - 10 Days

Sea Princess - 09/07/12 to 09/20/12 - 13 Days (changed dates)

The Star and Sapphire have major drydocks scheduled in the next nine months or so. There will probably be some disruption to a cruise or cruises prior to the drydock and I wouldn’t want to be on the first post drydock cruise. Note that the Sapphire was originally scheduled for 21 days but the January 28 cruise has been cancelled to make it 28 days – things change

Whoops! I guess it always helps to read to the end of the thread. We are already booked on the 15 day Hawaiian cruise, out of San Francisco, beginning 4-13-12, on the Star Princess. I almost panicked when I saw the ship was supposed to be in drydock at that time. With the new dates (Nov 11 to Dec 11) I can rest easy. Plus, our sailing is far enough after the drydock that all the bugs should be worked out. I love this board for the info it provides!

During the first Star drydock they did not have enough time to relocate the Casino and Crown Grill. I wonder if they are going to do it his time.

Bringing up this thread again, if anyone knows, where exactly do they move the casino to, and where will they locate these window suites?

Uh, oh. It looks like the cruise I have booked on Crown leaves the very next day after drydock/wetdock. Maybe that's why I can't find anybody on Roll Call for that sailing...they all knew better!

Seriously, have others had bad experiences after drydock/wetdock or just before the ship goes into dock? This will be first cruise on Princess and I am hoping it is a good one!

Brenda

We had a terrible pre-drydock experience aboard CCL so I am always making sure that does not happen again. So bad was it that I probably will never return to CCL

Has anyone ever watched the TV special series where they filmed a complete dry dock of a Royal Caribbean ship? It was one of the most fascinating shows I've ever watched. I could not believe how much they accomplished in the short time they were in dry dock. Talk about stress. I felt so sorry for the management team onboard that was responsible for getting it all finished by the date it was needed. They worked their a---s off and at the end when the ship was sailing, the three people that worked the hardest sat on the fender of their car and waved goodbye to the bigwigs that got to sail with her. I thought the least they could have done was let them sail with her on her first voyage after dry dock to enjoy the fruits of their labor. They literally worked all day and all night most of the time with little rest. If you ever see it advertised, be sure and watch it. I think it was on a cable station called Animal Planet.

Has anyone watched the dry docking of an older Royal Caribbean ship on Animal Planet? My husband was channel surfing one day and saw it and taped the whole series for us to watch. It was fascinating to see how much they accomplished in such a short period of time and hos much stress they were all under to get it done in time. I felt sorry for the management team on board who were responsible for everything getting done. At the end of the show, the ship sailed and the three people who worked the hardest were sitting on a car fender waving goodbye to those onboard. I thought the least RCCL could have done was let them stay on board to enjoy the fruits of their labor. If you ever see it advertised, take the time to watch it as it is very interesting.

I have no information pipeline from Princess. Rather I started with the original list by Buddy604 and then confirmed open spaces on the various ship schedules. I know, I have too much time on my hands  As of today. 10/02, no cruises are currently scheduled for the following dates:

Sea Princess - 09/07/12 to 09/20/12 - 13 Days

Coral Princess - 10/04/12 to 10/14/12 - 10 Days

Ocean Princess - 10/07/12 to 10/17/12 - 10 Days

Emerald Princess - 12/07/12 to 12/17/12 - 10 Days

Pacific Princess - 01/17/13 to 01/27/13 - 10 Days

Sun Princess - 03/29/13 to 04/10/13 - 12 Days

Only major drydocks on this schedule are the Star and the Sapphire.

The Diamond major drydock/refit will probably be October of 2013

Alfredo's? Yes. Leaves? A waste of time/space.

Do you know for a fact the Star is getting Alfredo's? I thought only the Sapphire, Grand, Diamond were...

Agreed about leaves, but at least it would move the library out of the computer area. Really am annoyed by that...the Island/Coral twins have a great, dedicated library.

No, I don't know. I was commenting to someone who hoped they would install Alfredo's on the Golden.

I'm sailing on the Sapphire in May. I would love it if Princess did a video blog of the changes the way they did with the Grand. That was so much fun to watch.

That would be great. We loved following the Grand's transformation.

So it appears that the longest (current) drydock is for the Sapphire.

So far, she's the only PCL ship we've sailed, and we've sailed on her twice. Love her!

So... does anyone know what exactly they're going to do to her? Curious!

The addition of an adults-only Sanctuary deck and Movies Under the Stars outdoor cinema, and other general refurbishments.

I knew they were adding a Sanctuary... as the sports deck was under construction above Skywalkers... didn't know they were adding MUTS.. .thanks!

One crew member told me she was being "gutted" and lots was going to be added. Just wondering what will be lost. (I know the gorgeous Internet Cafe will likely disappear... pity.)
