VicKen Posted June 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Anyone who has been on Alaskan cruise that includes evening in Victoria (7-midnight) - how does Princess handle dinner? Can't imagine all the late TD and perhaps a lot of the early TD alll rushing to the buffet.

We did anytime and so did everyone else.
paul929207 Posted June 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2010 I believe TD is the usual times.
VicKen Posted June 22, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted June 22, 2010 That really surprizes me - I was sure Princess would make some change. Did people just stay on board rather than having to scramble to eat and pack before going ashore?
san diego sue Posted June 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Didn't do dinner. Got a snack from IC after we came back from town. Packed most everything that morning. In the evening when we returned , put luggage out. We had anytime dining so didn't need to say say goodbye's to waiters.
sherryf Posted June 22, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 22, 2010 We didn't even bother to go ashore. We are from the Seattle area and have been to Victoria before anyway. We preferred a nice, quiet, last evening on board. We had a hot tub to ourselves as the ship docked. We had a quiet dinner in the dining room after others had left the ship. Perhaps some people choose to eat in town, rather than hassle with the crowds at the buffet.
wowsmom Posted June 22, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 22, 2010 OP, you've got me wondering now...when do the suitcases have to be out on that last night? What if you're on a tour in Victoria?
Colo Cruiser Posted June 22, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Best bet is by 11pm. We have never had a problem.

Rare annmarz Posted June 22, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 22, 2010 We just did this on the Sapphire. We had AT dining and arrived at dining room about 15-20 minutes before it opened, which was always 5:30 pm. There was a short line. They opened the dining room early and we were seated quickly and had plenty of time for a nice dinnner. Note: Since we were going on a tour, we were dressed more casually than usual for us, which didn't matter at all. After the tour about 10:30 pm we went to the Horizon Court for a snack which was a chaotic crowded mess! Don't worry about your luggage. They WILL pick it up. Just put it out before you go to bed. wowsmom Posted June 22, 2010 #11 Share Posted June 22, 2010 annmarz, what tour did you do in Victoria? That's the only port we haven't decided on yet.
Rare annmarz Posted June 22, 2010 #12 Share Posted June 22, 2010 I forget the exact name but it was something like Victoria Highlights and Mt. Tolemei (sp?). In a bus we saw the city and stopped at a high scenic overlook and toured a Victorian mansion. It was a good tour. 3 hours long.

Ubu Posted June 23, 2010 #14 Share Posted June 23, 2010 We were just on the Royal Princess and they just did open sitting in the dinning room and also the buffet was open.
Ms. Alpha Posted June 23, 2010 #15 Share Posted June 23, 2010 Since the Royal (and her sisters Ocean and Pacific) have only one dining room they don't offer anytime dining. The solution for a late port call is to have open seating in the dining room as the previous poster said. This happened to us in St. Petersburg Russia on the Royal in 2008.
