Rare pierces Posted June 29, 2017 Author #3190 Share Posted June 29, 2017 While shooting the bees buzzing around the blooming cactus in the backyard, I saw this little green beast climbing around on the Sago palm flower. I had the 100mm macro mounted and closed in for a tight shot. It reminded me why they feature so many giant bugs in horror movies. Dave

Dave Killdeer are amazing birds. Aside from facing off with a human without fear, they'll also fake a wing injury. They'll extend one wing out dragging it along the ground and walk away from their nest. It's meant to draw the predator away to a safe distance. Once they think it's safe, they'll fly off. My dad has one that builds a nest in the rock driveway leading to his barn every year. Sometimes right out there in the driving path. He usually has to mark it with something to know where it is to drive around it. She'll stand her ground even when a vehicle goes by.

CAC104 Posted July 7, 2017 #3199 Share Posted July 7, 2017 We had a good trip down to Florida and now stay constantly busy with friends and activities. I go to the ocean every other day and to me it is really my happy place. Kent likes his golf, but it is turning out to be a bit too hot for him to really enjoy it. Kevin loves the pool and the gym and we also keep busy with dinners out. We saw Wonder Woman on Wed. and today I am taking him bowling. It is so easy to do things here and is a much easier way to live than back home in busy Maryland. Everything in the condo is working fine so my ancient AC is still doing its job!
