Has anyone ever visited the cannery independent of a tour? We have decided to rent a car and explore on our own for our Ketchikan port stop. We will be driving out to the Cannery and would love to do a tour but I'm wondering if they are open to independent travelers.

went to the lodge but never heard of a cannery.. the lodge does group tour lunches.. to die for.

In the past, they did not do independent tours. I have driven down there, and it was gated.
