pizzadog Posted July 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2010 :confused:Can anyone tell me what the "Silk Lounge" is aboard the Eurodam. Is it part of "The Retreat" and does one pay extra to use it?
sail7seas Posted July 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2010 It's another lounge/bar and is really beautiful. Only Nieuw Amsterdam and Eurodam have one and it quickly became a favorite of ours during our Eurodam cruises. It's a beautiful evening to have pre-dinner drinks in Silk Den and then go to Tamarind for dinner.
IRL_Joanie Posted July 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2010 :confused:Can anyone tell me what the "Silk Lounge" is aboard the Eurodam. Is it part of "The Retreat" and does one pay extra to use it? It is as follows: Tamarind Restaurant and Silk Den Lounge: A Pan-Asian restaurant and lounge with panoramic views of the ocean and Lido Pool area. The Tamarind is reservations only! There is a $15.00 per person charge for lunch. It also offers a special Indonesian Rijsttafel dinner, $20.00 per person. Photos can be seen here, a little more than half way down the page: http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/Eurodam/index-2.html It is located mid ship on Deck 11 the Observation Deck. Krazy Kruizers Posted July 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2010 It is indeed a beautiful Bar/Lounge. It doesn't open until 5 PM. We spent many evenings there for pre-dinner cocktails and after dinner cocktails.

Its the bar area/lounge area across from The Tamarind Retsuarant. I found it to be a delightful READING and people-watching place in the mornings! At night there are lots of people having cocktails and talking -in the morning there was mostly OTHER readers using the NICE seating areas.......:)

It does indeed sound like our kind of place, both for the morning (reading) and before and after dinner drinkies. We are booked for a Canada/New England cruise in October of 2011 - hoping they add on the Eastern Caribbean as they did for 2010.:)
Willsot Posted July 4, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2010 If I recall correctly, I believe that it does overlook the Retreat cabanas.
jtl513 Posted July 4, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 4, 2010 If I recall correctly, I believe that it does overlook the Retreat cabanas. It faces the Retreat, across the Lido pool. Here's a pic taken from the Retreat side. The wide window section under the three domes is the Silk Den.
catl331 Posted July 4, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 4, 2010 The dinner at the Tamarind is $15 and no charge for lunch but reservations are a must. Lunch--more like served dim sum. All a treat to us!!!:)
