is princess pulling out of Acapulco

I have noticed that only one ship is listed as being in port in October-thru December stopping in Acapulco. this ports is listed as being a port of call. The cities port schedule does not show it. Just wondering.

I know HAL is cutting their presence in the Mexican Rivera, and I heard Princess is as well. A little too many berths for the demand, and the demand may be down some due to the perceived dangers in Mexico.

I think the Norweigan Star has dropped both Zihuatanejo and Acapulco from upcoming - 2011 season - itineraries. The company is adding a day in Cabo San Lucas and LaPaz (both in Baja California Sur) ... saying it'll save $50,000 per cruise by doing so. I don't think crime or perception of crime in Zihua or ACA is the reason, but that $$$ savings is. I hadn't heard that other cruise lines were eliminating ports of call in the region, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did ... for similar economic reasons.

Carnival Spirit is also cutting back on it's stops in Acapulco. It was doing a regular 8 day out of San Diego during the winter months. It is now doing 4,5,6,7,& 9 day mixing up ports and going into La Paz and stopping for two days in Cabo on some sailings. I think it is only porting in Acapulco twice next winter.

The Norwegian Star will be completely out of the Mexican Riviera after the April 30, 2011 cruise. NCL is moving the Star to Tampa. The Star hasn't gone to Acapulco for a few years. They have been doing a 7 day run to Cabo, Mazatlan, and PV. They do stop at Acapulco on their Panama Canal trips.
