My mother was wondering...

does the casino still take quarters in the slot machines on the Explorer of the Seas? She was told from a friend that the machines only take bills now? Is this true?

They take bills, and when you cash out, you will receive a slip of paper. No more jingling of coins.

I think Royal Caribbean has gone the way of most casinos. Only bills can be put in and slips to pay out. The slips can be put into another machine or taken to the casino cashier.

 

I do miss the sounds of quarters falling out, but with my luck, even if they still paid out in quarters, I wouldn't be hearing much noise, lol.

Recently we were on the Serenade & the casino paid out in quarters, there were a few machines paying out with the paper tickets.

There is no better sound then the clinking of all those quarters when you cash out. Sorry to see paper is taking over.

On our recent Cruise on the Radiance, quarters still rule. Talk about filthy lucre:eek:. After getting our hands all grimy handling those quarters, we finally agreed that sometimes "change" is for the better.

When you cash out, some of the machines make the sound of coins dropping into the metal tray. Does that help? :rolleyes:
