CA27 Posted August 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2010 Do you have to purchase your pier to airport transfer before you sail? Or can you purchase transfers while on-board? Just wondering if I need to purchase now. Thanks in advance.

Its cheaper and faster to use a taxi in most cases.
CA27 Posted August 6, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted August 6, 2010 Any idea on the cost of a taxi from Port of Miami to MIA for 5 passengers?

Im meeting someone but one is going to FTL and one to MIA airport, so for one person the transfer is the better deal.

CA27 Posted August 6, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted August 6, 2010 I just saw in the Florida board that a cab from POM to MIA is $24 + plus tip, and there are apparently many minivan/SUV type taxis, which would be good for us. Definitely cheaper than the Carnival transfer. I don't see the advantage of using the Carnival transfer.

Some families arent comfortable taking taxis in an unfamiliar city, or they would rather just leave it all up to the cruise lines to take care of their transportation

firefly333 Posted August 6, 2010 #12 Share Posted August 6, 2010 A taxi usually is cheaper for a short hop for 2 or more people. Not all taxi's can fit 5 with luggage. I know a lot of cruisers who cruise with a ton of baggage and the taxi's wouldnt take 5 in that case. Sometimes its two taxi's
blindrid Posted August 6, 2010 #13 Share Posted August 6, 2010 Taxi is cheaper, faster and better Agreed. Anytime you area dealing with numbers, they are normally cheaper. I'm guessing $25 + tip (or so) + a surchage for each person (over two maybe???).
zqvol Posted August 7, 2010 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2010 Any idea on the cost of a taxi from Port of Miami to MIA for 5 passengers? Flat fee $24, though a van might be a little more. If you are in MIA definitely take a cab and not Carnival transfers.
