Dengue in Key West

When I lived in the Philippines, dengue outbreaks were a regular happening. I caught dengue twice in the twelve years I lived there. What we were told is that the mosquitoes that carry dengue bite only in the early morning around sunrise and again around sunset.

Those who arrive in Key West on cruise ships are often not in Key West at those times. But if they are, they should just use insect repellant. Also don't wear perfume or any scented cosmetics because such scented products can attract mosquitoes.

By the way, you don't want to catch dengue. It is a bear of an ailment. One thing the article linked doesn't mention is the massive sweating. I soaked the bed a couple of times with the sweat. I had the highest fever I have ever had and time stood still. Just don't catch this. Use insect repellent.
